Howdy all, after painting my Hs-129 I handled my model with sweaty hands. I hadn’t noticed how sweaty my hands were and how much had transferred to my model, because when I went to Future my model, the future simply rolled off the model. So, how does one remove fingerprints (or clean) of a fully painted model ??

wipe over with metholated spirits. Use a cotton bud or a ball of cotton wool. This will remove any grease or fingerprints without damaging the model or paintwork

Pity things are not called the same all over the world. Or is it that you Americans have to be different to us aussies and the Brits :-)
it is similar to kerozine but it is not oil based. It is ethonol based but leaves no residue behind when it evaporates. It is colored purple here and smells real good. You can go blind if you drink it.
Sorry don't know the name of it in the States

OK thanks, I'm sure we got it, but probably under a different name.
I know we got some kind of "metholated alcohol" that smells real nice and will make you go blind if you drink it since it is actually wood alcohol. Bet it's the same stuff, but don't know the name, or brand name of it.

And...gulp...if the meths method don't work you might need to be brave and give it a tickle with wet and dry with loads of water and liquid dish soap at the most gentle pressure.
But there is a post about car polish...maybe???
Cheers

IDEA
In the old days of pre computers and digitalisation, printers and the like used soft cotton gloves when handling negative films etc as did photographers to prevent damaging them from...you guessed it...fingerprints and grease.
I think referees at pool and snooker competitions use something similar.
Maybe they are still available and would stop any fingerprints being inadvertantly applied to models.
Just a thought.
Cheers
Peter
