low oder mineral spirits is a lot weaker,
then mineral spirits with high oder.
and i woud like to know if the can just says
mineral spirits?
because the stuff i have says
paint thinner and in small wrieting
it says mineral spirits.
i know that this is a dumb topic.
the lady in the hardware store said that the

You found the right stuff. It usually just says Paint thinner on the jug. As far as the low odour variety being weaker, I honestly couldnt say. But how strong do you need it anyway? I think it will work just as well for what you want it to do.
cheers,

I hav'nt bought the stuff in a bit...when I did, though, I bought Mineral Spirits..thats how it was labelled. As for strength..cant see needing anything to potent.

I remember years ago, in the days of hair, and it actually was a red color, we use to go to the hardwear store, and buy "Mineral Spirits" by the gallon, for .25 cents, but we had to bring our own bottles, and that was usually an empty gallon wine jug. They use to keep it in back in 55 gallon drums, and it was called "varsol" (not sure about spelling on that)
My uncle was a sign painter, and he always used plain old kerosene for thinning and cleaning his brushes, kerosene went for about .02 cents a gallon, and dear old uncle Charlie was a lot cheaper than I was. (actually he use to prefer the kerosene because it extended the drying time on the paints, thus he came out with a longer period of time for the brush strokes to level out, or so he said, but he never did have brush stokes on his lettering.
Boy OH boy, am I dating myself on that one.... LOL

So, even if it's a bit weaker, that's good for your intended aplication since ther'll be less likelihood of damaging the underlying coat.
