Someone may be able to assist you...if we knew what type of vehicle you are referring to.

Not a photograph, but the rack does appear in a drawing on the AFV Interiors site. Hopefully this link should work:

Not a great view, but it doesn't look very different to the racks shown elsewhere in the tank.

For more interior views of a T-34-76, try The Tankmaster site, the set on the tank named Sniper may help you, even if it's what we would call a Model 43.

David, thanks for the webpages. The Trumpeter kit is missing these ammo racks, but I plan on using one of the racks that hang under the bow MG. I believe (hope!) that it can not be seen when the upper hull is placed on the lower. I'm also wondering what the rack rests on? Dan

Very hard to tell from the AFV Interiors drawing how the rack is mounted and the photograph further down the page is taken from exactly the wrong angle to show what you're looking for.

FWIW I think the drawing indicates the rack is fixed to a cross-member running between the driver and co-driver's seats, but that's just my interpretation.

The above image I think shows the cross members that the rack is mounted on?
I have some good photos in some books which show the rack in place, but I think scanning them and posting them on here would be a copyright breech.
If you can get access to Military Modelling magazine, vol.28, No.12, 21 August 1998!!!...on page 52 there is an excellent interior pic which shows the rack, it holds 5 drum mags and appears to be different to any other rack inside the tank.
It appears to have sections that seperate the mags, almost the same thickness as the mags rather than a thin plate, and they also appear to be slightly angled backwards.

In Museum Ordance Special Number 6, T-34/85 In the Post World War 2 Era, on page 9 it shows another 5 mag rack at the left of the drivers seat (as looking out of the tank), mounted off the floor, also along with another double rack on the left side wall of the driver, behind the gauges (these fittings may only be suitable for the 85, or post war 85s?)

Hope this has helped a little.

Carl

I have just finished scratchbuilding the ammo rack to fit between the driver and gunner seats, only to find that it does not fit!!!
Should have tried it first!
Be warned, if you are trying to do this mod on the Trumpeter 1/16 T-34, that even the MG mags provided with the kit do not fit between the arm rest space bewteen the seats, let alone a rack!...something is out of scale somewhere, probably the thickness of the armrests....I guess this is why Trumpeter did not include this rack in the kit?

Carl, Do you mean the "C" shaped brackets that are on the floor? I think that you are right about the seats; I think that Trumpeter could have done a better job on them. Dan
