OK this is for a friend of mine over at FSM. He is looking for a trailer that could be used during the Korean Conflict being pulled by the M-221 2 1/2 ton tractor. Anyone out there that might be able to help Chris out? I was thinking that the single Axel Trailer by Real Models for the Federal Tractor might work. I was not able to find any photos of the tractor pulling any trailers.

what does an M221 tractor look like??
the only ones I got in my one reference book ....LOL are a 1 1/2 ton, and 4/5 ton tractors, and 5/6 ton tractors.
But the book does have several different types of trailers that could be towed behind a "normal" tractor, or a 2 1/2 or larger truck with the use of dollie wheels.
Unfortunately the book does not give the more normal (read as M-type numbers) for the tractors, but calls the by names like :
1 1/2 ton, 4x4 ( 2DT) tractor truck, standard.
I could snap a few photos of the trailer for you if you want.

Animal I did the Des Kits trailer to go with my Federal Tractor unit from the same maker. It was a dream to build until you got to the sides. These are large slabs of resin and just would not fit properly. I resorted to internal supports with a tarp over it to hide the braces.
I understand that the Real Model kit is the same so I thought I would warn you about it.

OK, Looks like a 2 1/2 with a 5th wheel and no body.
My book is on only WWII stuff, so I guess this came later.
I would imagine that for Korea, they would still be using a heck of a lot of the older WWII trailers.
The book is called:
The American Arsenal.
has a lot of interesting stuff I never saw before, some test vehicles, and other strange and interesting variations of the standard vehicles, plus small arms and artillery, and munitions.

Dave do you have a pic of the type of trailer you are after. I have a 1943 manual that lists trailers and if I had some idea I will scan the pages and send them to you.
Thanks Roo

I am pretty sure that they used a lot of WW 2 trailers during the Korean conflict. So I guess any trailer would work from that era. I am not building this one now but I have someone who has been looking for any info on the trailers. I will let him know what you guys have found. Thanks a million for the assistance.
