I am in the process of assembling my first set of Fruil metal track links.
Do you prime them before you paint them?
If so, since it is a metal surface, is there a special primer I should use?

Brent,
Absolutely, You must prime cast metal tracks. Regular paint will not stay on long if you dont. You can use any number of primers. Like Tamiya Metal primer, auto primer etc etc. What I use for Metal tracks myself is "rust" paint. I use Tremclad Flat black sprayed straight from the can. There are other similar products found at stores like walmart and autoparts stores, its an incredibly strong and resistant paint. I also seal it with Testors dullcote before weathering. HTH
cheers,
Bryan

I use Blacken-It, so I don't prime. What you do is assemble the tracks, then put them in a NON-METAL container with Blacken-It in it. Let is sit for a spell (I usually stir it a little every now and then) and it will 'rust' the tracks. After you achieve the desired amount of rusting, remove them from the Blacken-It and rinse with water. Let the tracks thoroughly dry and, once dry, use a little sand paper to rough up the points that would touch the road.
