Of the workable tracks, which one is better: AFV Club, Fruilmodel or Modelkasten? Also, is AFV Club's aftermarket vinyl tracks worth a shot?

Despite of what is written on the box, none of AFV Club individual plastic link tracks for m113 are actually workable. Also note that Modelkasten sell two types of tracks for M113: workable and non-workable. I can't tell which are better, but I believe it depends mostly on what medium you prefer to work with, as Modelkasten tracks are made of plastic and Friulmodel are metal.

And yes, AFV Club's vinyl tracks are worth a shot - they are actually very good!

Howdy fellas,

Starting a 'Bucket' Campaign huh? Sound's like an idea that is looooooong overdue....good on ya Patruhe!
(and you even have ShermiesRule involved as well! ).

Man....this is soooo tempting. I will definitely have to consider this one. Although I just started an M113-based vehicle for my "Incoming!!" Campaign, I also have a couple of other ideas I could forge for this build........

But, just to potentially lend a hand in the 'ideas' department......

to janwillem: You said; "...going to make it a dutch army one ..."
So here's a couple of pic's of Dutch Army based M113's just to 'whet' your appetite....
First is a 'Fitter', the type that Shermies was asking about (hope the pic helps Alan).

Next is a TOW version I believe.....

Here's a CP........

hth.

to scoccia our 'Italian':

Here's a 'beaut'!....only the Italian's, home of the Ferrari, would come up with this sleek M113......

Actually scoccia.....I'm brain-bashin' this one.....
And...just to give your scratchbuilding brain something to drive itself bonkers....here's a better view/version.....

Tread,
the italian one is a prototype for a "light" LVTP-7 alike vehichle.
If you want a few more funny Italian prototypes have a look to the following pics

Istrice (hedgehog): it's able to "spread" 72 anti tank and 412 anti person mines

Container carrier

Loads the containers on the carrier

Unknown: I suspect it was meant to be used for tourists to visit battlefields ...

Ciao

Howdy Fabio,

Those are great photos there sir! I like the 'hedgehog' variant quite a bit. But if you think about it, the 'Istrice' or hedgehog, the container carrier, and the 'tourist' mover are all pretty much based on the same reconfiguration of the standard M113 chassis.

An interesting use of a redesign to be sure.
The 'Bucket' is really a superb piece of subject matter for a Campaign....the possibilities are truly endless.................................................
