Today, the 1st of August, is the start date for the M113 campaign. Still pending but I see no reason why those of us who aren't tied up in a current campaign or need a diversion from a current campaign can't start working. We've go 29 enlisted so far.
I'll be starting either a Swiss Schutzenpanzer 63/89 conversion or a Lebanese M113 with Zsu 23-2 as soon as I finish(hopefully) my M106 for the Incoming campaign.

I got me a couple of older Tamiya M113s, one just the regular old troop carrier and the other with the MG turrets.

I'm going to stay on the sidelines for now. If I get some modeling done while I'm in Bosnia, I'll build my "ride" from my tour with the UN in Croatia in 92. More to follow...

I intend to get in with a Lebanese version with the ZU23-2 and probably a M901 TOW launcher verlinden conversion for direct variants.
Wondering whether a KIFV would be suitable if time remains till the campaign ends.

soooo many M113's soooo little time..
Might be a good excuse to dust off the funky 'chevron' armor for an IDF APC..
But I have all the Maple Leaf Models, MR Models, and references to do a Cdn vers as well...
The sci fi build is well under way and since my recent e-bay sturmtiger purchases are not here yet.
I've lost momentum on the Hind, so this might get me going again.

I just added some pictures to my site that may help. I have a walk around of the M-75 (pre M113) and a bunch of pictures of the M113 in OIF. Here is the link:

I hope they are useful.

Once I get my Indian M4A3E4 done, I'll use one of my Italeri M113A1's for an Iranian track in the Iran-Iraq War.

Finally settled on a Canadian M113 Fitter. Gathered up required stuff: MLM external fuel tanks, interior bits, POL cans, HKCW tracks, photos. Going to try and do a bit of interior stuff, but not go nuts (I'll save that for my TUA!). Started some basic 'kitchen table' assembly, looks like I'll need to change a few little details on the crane for starters.
Cheers,
Jim

I've seen the term Fitter used many times. What exactly is a fitter?

A Fitter is one recovery variant of the M113, a basic chassis but with an articulating HIAB crane on top. Academy has the IDF version, which will become a Canadian one in my entry, in action as it changes the powerpack on a Cdn A2. Thanks to Trackjam and Maple Leaf Models, of course!

Ohhhh reallllllllllyy????
Master or One-of?
I told Tom Rea today that a properly done ADATS conversion would only consist of about 10 parts:
1. New Front
2. New Back
3. New Left Side
4. New Right Side
5. New Hull Roof
6. Turret
7. E/O Module
8. Radar
9. Left Missile Yoke
10. Right Missile Yoke
Easy peasy lemon squeezy! :-) :-) Well, at least the roadwheels could be saved...

Ha-ha! An 'entry-level' conversion kit for the beginner! Only 10 pieces! :-)
It wouldn't be that hard to make a basic TUA set - bins, launcher pedestal, Commander's sight, probably new roof. Maybe someday...?
Fitter info and photos at:
http://www.armouredengineer.force9.co.uk/bucket/canfit.htm
Also THE place to get inspiration for your project!
Cheers,
Jim

Hey gents,
I am joining in also. I will build Tamiya's M113A2 in OIF markings since I have two of these kits gathering dust in the closet.
I might use this campaign as an excuse and get me an Academy M981 FIST
I have questions regarding aftermarket tracks.
Of the workable tracks, which one is better: AFV Club, Fruilmodel or Modelkasten? Also, is AFV Club's aftermarket vinyl tracks worth a shot?
Thanks,
Ray
