Here is the M-35 series M-275 2 1/2 ton tractor and 24 foot troop hauler trailer. We used this type of setup at Ft. Dix New Jersey and also at Ft. Hauchauca AZ. to haul personnel to different training areas in 1966 and 67. I used the AFV Club M-35 A2 for the tractor. I shortened the frame and scratch built all the tractor parts. The 24 foot Personnel Transport trailer is made with spare parts and Evergreen plastic stock. The canvas top is two AFV Club 2 1/2 ton cargo covers that I cut and joined together. This is something that I built while the site was done to keep myself sane.

I have some more photos in my gallery here if you are interested. https://armorama.kitmaker.net/photos/showgallery.php?cat=13233&ppuser=1742

Very nice , realistic job... those troop seats look just as uncomfortable as I'm sure the real ones were.

Cool, reminds me of the old "cattle cars" they used to haul us around in during the 80s.

So, let me get this straight. You whipped this sucker out in 4 days? FOUR DAYS?!?! Animal, you truly live up to your moniker! Ya know, I have to ask. Did you have to put an addition on your house to display all these AWESOME builds?
I am not even going to comment on how good this one looks, you know my opinion of your work!

A salute
A near beer
And a hearty puff
To the god of modeling!

Cuhail

P.S. Four days?...Damn!

Thanks Gino. Remember You are still serving and I am retired. I have all the time in the world to do what I like now. I don't put any more actual hours into a project as you guys do. It is just that I have everyday 10 to 15 hours to do it in. LOL

The middle row was no fun for most. You sat straddled on the bench like riding a horse and you sat close to ... well you get the picture.

Another masterpiece Dave. I was wondering it is no wonder the military done away with this kind of troop carry, but back in it's day.
Was this a boot camp replacement tool, cause after riding in there very long, it would either kill them, or make them tuff as nails, wouldn't you think?

They weren't the most comfortable way to travel, but after a long day at the ranges or night training exercises it sure beat walking.

So, so cool. I love all those trucks you are making, and this one ranks up there with the best of them. I love the way you put thetwo truck bodies together to make the long trailer. I wish i had the time on my hands to model all day.
At least your time is well spent. Beautiful!

Horsey! Horsey! :-) how can you not see the fun of riding there in the middle while the guys on the sides break their backs against the hard backrest on such a bumpy ride?

The speed o these projects and the quality is quite impressing, you do have some imagination, keep it going

Humm... I remember some nurses being bunked up in something close to that somewhere along in my travels. Actually they were 'roughing' it out in the field with us but, I do recall them being ah, um... quite cosy inside. Being with the S-3 shop and all, I was able to check in on the 'operations' of those 'facilities' from time to time.

Another tough truck off of Animal's workbench!! Very , very nice Dave!!

OH MY GOD CATTLE CARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lord do I remember those. For the uninitated, most of the time those of us in the middle turned sideways and sat back to back for support. Animal, if you run out of display space on your house...send this one to me !!!!!!!!!!!!! In lieu of that could you let me have plans on how you built tractor, Hopefully a kit bash.

Steve this is a kit bashed project. The tractor is very easy to convert. and the trailer is two cargo beds cut and glued together and a thin sheet of plastic stock for the cargo floor. And a lot of plastic stock to finish it up. The cargo canvas cover is two kit covers cut and glued together.

Dave

PM me with the kits you used to do this. Trailer sounds reasonably simple and straight forward...what did you do to make basic tractor?
