I was wondering what type of T-62 the Iraq's where using in ODS or OIF or where they all destroyed.

I am going to get the conversion set but there is so many I wasn't sure which one to get to be accurate.

It could be resin or photo etch parts.

Thanks

Happy Modeling

Didn't see many T-62s over there. They mostly had older T-54/55 tanks and the chinese copy, Type 59, all upgraded with add -on armor, and Republican Guards used T-72s.

Well, the "opposition" got a T-62 up a running for a few second in Faludja last month, so they had some...

Anyhow, from the quick look I took, it seems they had the T-62 M1961/67 and the M1972/75 (AAMG).

Of course, they may have had more, but this is my best guess, off the cuff...

It would be reasonably easy for the insurgents to get hold of and repair any number of vehicles over there. There were tanks, BMPs, and all sorts of other vehicles littereing the whole place. Many of them simply abandoned. They could have easily moved one at night into a garage and worked on it till it was in working order. US Forces can't be everywhere, all the time to see it all. That is why we are still fighting in certain areas there.

Take a look at the first of Whiskey_Delta's Bovington pictures, the T-62 in the middle is a souvenir of Desert Sabre (=ODS). Spot the typical Iraqi shield around the commander's IR searchlight.

I got the news from a guy who is over there right now. He was pissed that the event got NO airtimein the US as far as he knows. He also implied that the only thing that those jokers were threatening was there own lives as the vehcile was apparently put out of action nearly immediately.

Here's info from the first war

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/iraq/ground-equipment-intro.htm

It could be helpful ? Depends on how current you want to be.

AEF - makes a t-69 conversion (reseasonably priced)
