That will be a nice dio, The tank is awsome it has some of the best texture I have seen in awhile. I used to do water for ships and my first time was a mess. But it brings something extra to a dio for some reason.
I can not wait to see the finished dio. Because that is a nice start .
What type of method did you do for the rust.
Happy Modeling

only the tank seems not that broken of the hit it got...
but maybe you have a reason for that?

I really like the rust job on the tank. It looks very real. I do have one question. Why the straw inside of the CO's hatch ? If the tank was in the water, how did the straw get there? I can't wait to see the completed dio.

That’s a very nice kit you put together. I like really like the rust you've done on this thing. I also like that little fishy you drew under the waterline :-) I'm guessing the straw in the hatch is going to be a nest for a bird of some kind; just a hunch. I can't wait to see this finished. What are you gonna use for the water?

First of all Sherminator and Badman for that too: welcome to Armorama. Second, I will echo everyone on the rust and overall texture. I just want to put a finger through the computer screen and rub it on the surface!

The texture of the tank looks awsome. t looks very, very convincent like an abandoned tank in the outside for a long time. How did u do it.

Hi there Erik...
nice and marvelous finished tank. I love the rust and texture . I agree that if u can write a how-to article on the surface texture effect and share it here.

I must agree with others on the rust job!!!
but i have one question, since i did a maquette Pz38t recently (its here on Armorama ON Display),
How come both of the MG's are placed on the LEFT side of the tank hull and turret??? i checked many references and all i saw were having Mg's on the RIGHT side, either u did some variant of 38t (like reecon or command tank or sumting) or u misplaced
If its a variant please can i have a ref pic, becouse i plan to do another one in future and it looks nice the way you did it
cheers
Mirko

Thanks fellows for the comments. I will answer your questions.
First:
Yes bracomadar you are right the straw is a bird nest.
I don’t want it to be too broken. After it got hit it run down in the river. Like the Sherman in Band of Brothers when they are in Holland. A Sherman got a hit and it run uncontrollable down a ditch and nearly crush a paratrooper.
I use Scenic Rust from Deluxe Materials. I mixed a thin mix of Scenic Rust Powder with Scenic Rust Binder. And then I painted it on the tank, I painted more on the area who will be under the waterline. When it dry I painted Scenic Rust Developer over it and waited two days. I thought the rust become to dark so I dry brush it with Humbrol nr 62. and then I gently spray it with light earth colour.
For the water I will use another products from deluxe materials, Solid Water or Scenic Water.
I misplaced the MG on the turret, the blueprint was wrong look at this:
But I notice that after I had painted the tank so I decide to not change it. I think the MG on the hull is correct.

Nice little idea for a dio you have there ....Can't wait to see the water added... A few things I noticed other than the MG ...I would added some streaks to the rust just here and there to show the angle that the tank is at using lighter colored rust colors just for contrasts.. The other think is the number 5 on the left side of the turret just looks like a decal that broke and not a worn away painted on number ..You might try to fix that a bit.

well you are right, MG on the hull is correct, it was my mistake :-)
well, no harm done, it looks good even with the wrong side, :-) it wont be much noticable since you've put a bird nest (mine has full enterior so it would be noticable )
i like what you did, i can even say it looks better than mine (which u can se at https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/384 ) or on my web site.
if u manage to make a good water effect i think you have a very very good work on your table!!!
cheers

Hi,
Very good job.
Just a small note
The area inside the water - below waterline - will not rust so quickly as the area above waterline - rust needs air oxygen to form.

I have a couple of techniques for that I either use some raw sienna oil paint and I put little spots of this undiluted on the area I want the streaks ..I them take a flat paint brush and dip it in thinner (I use lighter fluid helps make the oil paint matt) I then wipe most of the thinner off just leaving my brush damp and then slowly drag my paint brush downward pulling the paint down ...each time I wipe my paint brush off ..go over it as many time as you think you need to... looks pretty darn good ...You can use this same techneque with other colors to creat rainstreaks too ..I use black ,raw umber, burnt umber ,raw sienna ,burnt sienna, yellow ochre, and even a tint bit of white ..try it you'll like it .
The other method I use is rust colored pastel chalks the I put on with a small brush and just drag the pastels down the sides ...
I've used both these techniques on these kits the streaking on the flat surfaces and pastels around the grab handles and bolt heads ..hope the picture help to explain the effect..
