Hello,

This is probably askt before but I don't seem to find it anywhere.

I am building a Tamiya Sherman with rubber block tracks (vinyl)

I have primed these tracks using automotive black primer but I don’t know how to proceed.
Can someone plz give me a quick guide on how to paint these? (convincingly rubber blocks and a little rust on the metal parts)

Tnx for the reply

For rubber block track, I like to paint the "rubber" parts with Panzer gray -- I do the rubber parts of the road wheels with the same color. For the "steel" parts of the track -- end connectors and guide horns -- I paint first with Testors "Rubber," followed by drybrushing with two or three rust shades starting with dark and going to light -- like Humbrol Rust, MM Military Brown, MM Rust. Then finish off with a metallic highlight -- I like to use pencil graphite, but occasionally use Testors "Steel."

I like to give tracks a wash, but select the color depending upon the base or groundwork I'm using. For a dusty appearance, I like a light tan, like MM "Armor Sand." I rarely wash tracks with black.

We had a good thread about this earlier: Painting Vinyl Tracks. Might be some useful information in there for you.
