The grass is just unmade hemp rope, cut to size, and painted with aerograph with a greenish color (olive green may be). It´s good, easy, and cheap of course, try it ¡¡¡¡¡
Under the high grass there is a base of "wild grass" of "Heiki", a great item for dioramas.
P.S. The high grass is the same of my lssc and seals diorama, but in a different colour.

Next may be a diorama of a OH-6-A vietnam scout helicopter on fly, shooting to an escaping group of North Vietnam Army running soldiers, and been fired (the helicopter) by a VC antiaircraft heavy machine gun post. Just like the story of Captain Hugh Mills told in the Squadron Signal "Gunslingers" about gunships and scout helicopters in Vietnam.
A very big proyect.......

Well Csago, youve really done it with this one, i dont think there is one thing wrong with it, the figures are superb, the water is outstanding, but once again, i think the best thing about this diorama is the foliage, the way you do your grass is second to none, great stuff mate, a truly brialliant job!

btw, I belive you called it "one second for goodbye" because the VC prisoner is leading the seal team to that booby trap mounted on a stick.

Love it! I especially like the SEAL and prisoner duo. That particular scene is very dramatic. The water buffalo is a nice touch as well.

WOW, that looks amazing!
I had to stare really hard at the stick to see the Claymore attached to it. Nice camouflage of the SEALs and the booby trap.

The "Heiki" wild grass is an item for trains modelling, and very good for knee high grass. I used as "background" for the high grass.
And the high grass is just hemp rope... You unmade some inches of rope, put it into hot water to loose the torn looking of the fibers, let it dry, put together in groups with the size you like (tied with wire), and paint them with aerograf with some green colour (my high grass is american uniform green colour from Vallejo acrilics).
So you can "plant" the groups in your dio with white glue or contact glue (better into a hole), and give them the "look" you want pressing them just with fingers....and the final touch is a drybrush with some light green first and brown in selects spot (for the dry part of the grass).
Easy, good, and cheap ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

First, the figures of my dio are from Dragon, VC from "NVA sappers" with spare arms, and the seals from "Seal 2", with a "pirate" head from "Macv-Sog" the upper body of the "pirate" from "Marine Recon", and the beret head from an old "Land rover ambulance" Tamiya kit.
Second, sorry, no manufacter for my buffalo, it´s a little transformation from a donkey of the Dragon "German paras with donkeys" or "German mountain troops with mule" ; mainly a thicker body with a 5 mm plasticard between the two halves of the donkey, cut to shape neck and head, more "muscule" and horns with milliput, and "textured" with almost dry putty.
May be a "feature" with the buffalo "Making of" someday...
