Hello again. I have decided to make a new topic for this question as the topic i posted the question in has got neglected. Hope no one minds. I have been looking around the internet and while i shall happily purchase another Tamiya chaly 2 i wanted to make it a bit different apart from the colour scheme to my 1st one, so in the idea of the trumpter kosovo model i want a dozer blade to fit on the front instead of the aplique armour. So far i have found the Accurate armour dozer blade which despite its price i would pay as long as it is compatible and would fit on my plastic injected model from Tamiya. here is a direct link to the item in quetion http://www.accurate-armour.com/ShowProduct.cfm?CFID=2452053&CFTOKEN=65741740&manufacturer=1&category=4&product=137
If anyone knows if it is, or is not compatible with the tamiya kit i would like to know, and if there is an alternative i would greatly appreciate it
Thanks again

Will,
I acn not say for sure, but it might with a lil adjesting. But better, why do you not ring up Derek and the boys and ask them? Granted you are down in Wales, but closer than I am. Derek has answered all my questions whether I called or e-mailed.
just a 2¢ (or Pence) comment.

I don't see why it wouldn't fit either the Trumpeter or Tamiya kits..........

Hi,
You could buy the Trumpeter KFOR Challenger 2 with Dozer blade for less than the price of AA's Pearson blade - and you would have a second Chally 2 to build. :-)

i no longer trust any other modeling company other than Tamiya. Trmpeter is cheaper yes, but you can easily tell why its cheaper. I did buy a trumpeter kit but i sent it back due to the poor moulding of the plastic, cheapness of the plastic, poor detail quality. With Tamiya adleast you buy the assuarance of a good quality model
However accurate armours challenger 2 desertised is nealy £80.00...WHAT!...why is this model so expensive. I now it is made out of resin and haveing never used resin before i do not know its advantages or disadvantages.
P.S. if i was to buy the KFOR trumpeter kit i would have a total of 3 challenger 2's... :-) now that is a anorak collection!

The Acc Armour dozer blade was released before Trumpeter kit, so must have been designed for the Tamiya kit. If AccA say it'll fit then my experience of their products says it will.
As regards working with the resin parts, trim them from the mould plugs CAREFULLY, clean them up properly and glue them on!

If you are right that it was released before Trumpeter kit, then I think it was designed for Accurate Armour's own resin Challenger 2. The only Challenger available from Tamiya back then was Challenger 1. Do you think it was designed for Chally 1 rather than AA's Chally 2?

Could be, but the I reckon AccA would also have released their kit as a second model with the blade in the kit. Most of their conversion parts are for Tamiya bases so could well have been for the Chally1

This month's Military in Scale has several articles on the Challenger 2, including one where the Trumpeter dozer blade is added to the Tamiya Challenger without any trouble. The author seems happy with the quality of the Trumpeter pieces.
Trumpeter have gone through a very rapid learning curve, from their first awful models to some much better (but not perfect) stuff today. Even if you don't build the rest of the Trumpeter Challenger the dozer blade is still cheaper than the AA one.
The other articles in MiS tart up the Trumpeter Op Telic version and have Tamiya Challenger 2 with the Op Telic bits removed. There are also a few pics of the real thing too.

Will, previously you asked why the AA Chally is so expensive. Well to go a little here, they are expensive because they are of a more limited run than the plastic manufacturers. It simply is not a question of comparing plastic with resin. Few British softskins are available in plastic, however they ARE available in resin - at a premium price.
I do however tend to agree about the doubtful 'parentage' of
the Trumpeter Chally Dozer blade, I'm not going into details, but there are unanswered questions... hmmm..Jim

is it at all possible to buy the Trumpeter Dozer blade seperatly?...and i didnt realise that the entire trumpter model is £1.00 cheaper than just the AA dozer blade. If you now of anone who has bought the trumpeter chally 2 and did not use the dozer blade and still have the parts i would like for them to get in touch with me. I would pay for the parts and just require a photocopy of plans to construct it.
Thanks for all the info

hi
i have three dozer blade kits two from cromwell and a AA version.
i will be mounting one to a Chally Two the others to Chieftain AVRE's
it will fit Chieftain AVRE,AVLB
Challenger 1,2
Titan,Trojan
i have looked at Trumpeters version and can only built to fit Challenger only. so it you want to mount it on another type of tank then it will not.
the same fixing points are used for the TWMP which is fitted to all the above + M1 used it in Iraq, M60 , Lerclec AEV plus others including indian tanks
