Today I present a little project I finished this week. Now before you all are going to ask what happened to the excavation dio? Well the excavation dio is still there but I need to do some serious surgery to it. And I still don`t have the guts for that. I also don`t have much time to do any modeling lately and I also want to get my Incoming entry finished. So this is the temporarily base for the PAK to finish in the Incoming campaign and to keep with the original concept of a derelict rusty thing :-) Ok here are the pics:
First a graphic presentation:
Then up to the pics (not all of good quality (sadly))
More pics can be found under the next link:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/photos/showgallery.php?cat=13346&si=&page=1&sort=8&perpage=10&password=&ppuser=777&stype=0
I`m not really going to change things to it for me the dio is finished still I would like to hear all feedback. What`s wrong whats good what could change etc. etc.

You may have changed the dio Robert, but it's still a beautifully finished bit of rusty junk!
Well done.

Hey Faust!
To be honest I must say that that rusty look is simply inspiring, specially the bicycle because it looks "simple" just like a bicycle puted aside in a junkyard That piece of artillary must have been a real challenge...If I may add a tip, and dont get me wrong, I know I'm just a newbie, I would sugest that you added some darker shades of brown to the ground because imho the paintjob looks a bit even, and that way, with some "spotted/stained" ground you would highlight the rusty effect. When I think about rust I always think of rain or humidity so the ground colors would reflect that unstable weather..Just my 2 cents...
Bye all!

The art is great but if it is a diorama, what is the story? The signature deriving Faust was here? Do you consider this a still life or just a landscape?

Not that it would matter much but it would be gold "IN" the junkyard. but congrats, looks really good because of the base, and the rust colors look accurate

first of all I want to thank you all for replying and bringing these wonderfull comments.

It`s always good when a newbie (as you call yourself) gives some tips or tricks. This way the newbie shows that he has the knowledge of how to built things and go around with stuff. Well the fact is that the ground doesn`t come up that well in the pictures but when you see the piece in Real life it is visible that the ground is not just one colour but that it is made up of patches some darker then the other. I only will add some bricks and a little spare wood around and under the PAK.
Jackflash
I only called it a dio because I didn`t know another name for it. It`s actually more of a vehicle display I forgot that to mention in the first post.
Jackhammer
In my opinion that is what makes a project special. Not common or something you see much. A different way of showing your vehicle or piece.
I have a little idea for the Upfront campaign for wich I`m buying the stuff this weekend at the KMK scaleworld.
Again guys thanks for your time to reply any more feedback is always welcome

Ola Guys
Thanks for the comments they are really appreciated.

Indeed that doesn`t matter much. Since English is my second language I don`t speak it perfectly though I manage myself. Thanks for the compliments on the rust
Costas
I`m more or less back. Now working I have the evenings without Homework wich gives me a couple of hours extra to built.
I hope to do the surgery later on in this month. I will not start on it before the 12th of this month because I`m preparing stuff for a Demo I`m going to do in the Armorama stand at the KMK scaleworld. But believe me the excavation is a too cool project to not finish.
Thanks for the replies

Nice twist Robert! The varying colors are what make this really grab your attention.
Being a cyclist I love the bike.
Well done.
My one critique (said with tongue firmly in cheek) is that the graphite isn't colorful enough. When I see this stuff on subways and such it's usually bigger bolder and more color full

Eeehhhhmmmmm ........................ NO! :-) :-)
It will be an entry for a contest this weekend. After that I don`t know maybe other contests or maybe it will go into the showcase of the local hobbyshop.

Thanks I hope they are just as impressed in Belgium

That`s exactly what I wanted. I like colorfull dio`s they are just fun to watch. From the beginning I tried to add a lot of colors and a lot of bright colors.
Not being the happy owner of a drivers licence my only way of transporting is by Bicycle. Making this bike Wheel-less was a pain in the @ss As the complete backpart where the wheel was attachd broke off when I was trying to cut the wheel off. I had to scratchbuilt the complete backpart
True true. Having spend nights and nights being a graffiti artist I know all about the things. This simple vandal job would be described as being a "tag" just a simple and quick signature of the artist. The big graffiti is on the other side of the shed not visible in the pics :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Great Work!!
just amazing
the one thing is true what Slodder says... The tag could be more colorfull. when I was into graffiti (don't tell the cops) white was the hardest color to get on the wall, it just doesn't cover that good. Chrome is the easy'st to get and to aply. but I'm still waiting to get my diorama sills up and than make some colorfull graffiti . But hey the ting is still amezing!!

Robert, since you're entering it in a contest, may I suggest you touch up the edges of the groundwork where the white shows through? That's the only thing that detracts from an otherwise excellent piece of work. A judge may look at that and subtract points.
It all works, but the weathering on the bike and 55 gallon drum are just so good! Simple and superbly done.

M80 no prob I wont call the police sort of brothers in arms thingy :-) :-) :-)
AJLaFleche
That`s indeed one thing that I need to do. I had the backside already done but forgot about the Frontside of the dio. Will take care of that tonight. Thanks for pointing it out. At the event of this weekend I will show how to weather fueldrums and jerrycans. With the same technique I also added the white dots on the asbestos plates. I`m thinking of writing an article about it. Believe me achieving a weathering like this on a fueldrum is Easy as pie. Upcoming weekend I`ll try to let somebody take good pics of my demo And then I can make a new feature.
Again thanks for pointing out the white stuff in teh groundworks

I`m really satisfied about this piece but you already guessed that from our conversations through Messenger. As I already said I will show the technique in a Demo at the KMK and I will ask some of the other members if they could do a photoshoot from the several stages. And I will try then to make a Feature out of it.
Further a little update. I have touched up all the white parts showing up at the side of teh base. I added some washes of Olive drab on the groundworks to get some irregularity to the ground color. Further I added some loose bricks under and around the gun to make the whole scene as a whole. It`s ready for the contest now :-)
Thanks for all the feedback you gave me

That is one of the coolest and most original ideas I have ever seen (tho i am still a newbie). The antitank gun is an awesome piece of art, and looks just like i would imagine it in a junkyard. Bravo.
