There has been a great deal of interest in Heki Grass products for use in 1/35 dioramas, but there seems to be a dearth of information, particularly pictures, available on the internet. I recently ordered several types of Heki "wild" grass products from Scenic Express in Pennsylvania. Their service was great by the way, as I had the package in three days time. Here are some pictures of two different types of Heki grass: 1574 Savanna Grass and 1578 mountain meadow grass. The figure is from Dragon's Chosin Reservoir Marine set. I hope you find this useful in evaluating the product for use in 1/35 dioramas.

Matt has already posted the website for Scenic Express, unfortunately, there are no pictures of the Heki Products. I sent an email to the address listed in the site and Sandy Dalicandro responded promptly and answered the phone when I called in the order.
Here is the information she provided in the email:
"Concerning the Heki Wild Grass Fiber, the sheets are 11" x 5-1/2" and the grass follicles are approximately 5mm long. HK1573, 'Moorland Green" is one type of wild grass fiber. There are also five other tones. Their names are Savannah Green (HK1574), Meadow Green (HK1575), Pasture Green (HK1576), Dark Green (HK1577) and Alpine Green (1578). The wild grass fiber sells for $8.99 each. Our shipping fee is $6.79 within the continental U.S.A.
The wild grass fiber is applied by pulling apart or cutting to a specific shape. A spray adhesive (our EX0160) works best for large areas or clear based 'Goo' (our PT0012) works great for smaller sized areas. Also, multiple colors together work well to create a random 'patchy' look."

The company called NOCH who also produce scenic items for railroading have a similar product called Prairie grass.
Here are some pictures i took of the grass and packaging. Another alternative if anybody is interested!

Another picture to show how it compares scale wise!
There are three grasses used ... static grass (heiki) .. the shortest, then the prairie grass by Noch and then long grass by heiki again. The wild grass as described by KBM wasnt available here when I built this scene!

This stuff looks very realistic. Does anyone know what this is made of? What are these fibers?

Tankysgal1 asked me about this Heki Grass product once, to see if I could order it for her. Looks awesome. I could really use a source of where I can get this product (dealer rate) and stock it.
We already carry Woodlandscenics, Hudson & Allen Stiudios, and both Verlinden and Techstar static grass, but this product is very unique.
Thanks for any help you can give. PM me here on Armorama.
Cheers !!

Hi Patrick:
Heki Grass (not sure about Noch, will have to check their catalog) is available through Scenic Express, see my earlier post in this thread regarding price and shipping. Matt posted their website.

Scenic Express is RIGHT!
I called them Monday at 3pm and had my super trees, flock and heki grass waiting here at the door today at 3!!
The products might or might not be any good, I have n't gotten into it and played around yet.
But Mannnnnn the shipping is great!
The three Heki grasses I got were
Woodland Green #1576
Mountain Medow #1578
Marshy country #1573
Marsh is much deeper green and seems to have a bit more fullness. Like there is more foam or something between the grass blades
Medow is a green/brown mix w some seed/leaf bits mixed in
Woodland green is a green to yellowish at the tips w/o any leaves or foam.
Supertrees and flock look good too, but they are phasing out the old flock (get the flock outta here! You're flocking kidding me!) so they I only got one shaker of the light green birch leaves color #08010 but they look like the birches I see around here.
I've got a semi-free hobby weekend and a friend coming over to geek out so hopefully I'll have more to report Monday.
I have not opened or used any of this stuff yet, but I am VERY pleased w the customer service and promptness of shipping from SE.
Thumbs up!
Mike

I checked the Scenic Express catalog that came with my order of Heki Grass and they also carry Nock grass products that are similar to the Heki grass.
Have to agree with MLD, Scenic Express offers great service.

Sorry, I am in the states so I can't directly answer your question, but I have to think a 'good' model railroad shop will carry Heki, Silfor and Noch grass. Especially simce they are Euro-made products (isn't Silfor?? I know Heki and Noch are)
To everyone else, grab the Scenic Express catalog if you can, WOW!
Heki, Noch and Silfor grass, foliage, trees (Super trees rock!) this place si going to get a BUNCH of my mone this year!
Mike
Whose groundwork used to suck balls.. but who in 5 min slapped some Heki onto a foam cube w a Super tree and it's WORLDS better than anything I'd ever done!

A little bit of what I've had time to do with the Heki grass and supertrees from Scenic Express.
The supertree trunk is unpainted, but with a little paint they'll look GREAT.
The figure is an in-progress DML Motor Rifle troop.
Total working time in the groundwork, about 20 min!
Love this stuff.
