Accurate Armour Matador truck with Mountford Metal Miniatures resin/metal 3.7" AA gun. The gun is actually 54mm-1/32 scale but the difference just emphasises the size of this gun.

Hi Dave. I like it especially the truck...good weathering. It appears that the disks on the 4 fold down stabilzers on the gun are backwards, though. (I'm not sure I'm using the right terminology). When they are folded down, shouldn't the disks rest on the ground?

Thanks Frag. I queried the stabiliser issue with Dave Love, the sculptor & owner of Mountford Metal Miniatures when this kit was first released - apparently the arms are actually removed and stowed this way, rather than folding as they do on the Bofors and other guns.

Thanks Dave. This gun has been on my list for a while now so when the chance came to get it, I grabbed it rather quick. This could have been the allied answer to the dreaded 88mm, but wasn't fitted with ground sights except for a trial in 1945.

Dave how are those Mountford Metal Miniatures????
Some look rather interesting, but some in some photos they look like the "old toy soldier" style.
Are they like that, or the old Hinchcliff?

Dave, Mountfords figures are a little better than 'toy soldiers' but not as detailed as we would normally expect as models. The guns are excellent, I've made a few before as vignettes with their crews and they look very effective. If you can ignore the scale difference I'd rather use their 25pdr than Tamiya's !!!.
Dave Love is a master sculptor, and the artillery is his main interest.
The 3.7" that I made was available as a metal kit, but has now been remastered as a mix of resin & metal, slightly cheaper and a heck of a lot lighter. I bought it through Matthew Tarrant at http://www.tarrantstoysoldiers.com/mount54mm.html
excellent service. I would think that Dave would consider being compared to Frank Hinchcliffe a compliment !

Thanks Dave, they certainly have some interesting items, some how I can see a few dollars being exchanged.

I've got my eye on the bofors and a couple of others, but they'll have to wait a bit.!
