Heya
This was my first try on pre shading.
Construction is done
I sprayed the model with Tamiya XF-2 Black
Then I sprayed a green colour(mix of all kinds of green). I tried to keep the shadings very subtile
So, for the first time I'm a bit satisfied0:-) But I would like to hear your opinion about it. Shall I need to add another layer of a lighter green colour?
Thanks,
Jurjen

Dont know what its like in reality, but not much of the pre-shading shows in the pictures. I usually exaggerate the pre-shading ... using very light versions of the faded colour, even lightening a second time and adding in the middle of larger areas and turret top only. I then overspray/filter on the original colour, well thinned to tie it all together.
I will have pictures soon to show this in progress!

You're right about the photo's. The pre-shading is hardly visible. But it is still there, very...very subtile.
I will add another layer of a lighter colour.

You've got a good start there ... I admit that my preshading is more in your face contrasts. I leave more black showing at the corners and just mist the color over it ...Next thing you should do is lighten your green color with a sand color (not white ..it greys your green) then spray each flat surface with this lighter color more in the middle but you can bring it out in places ..I find this creates a splotchy worn finish that we are looking for ... then add a bit more sand and redo this again ...After all that a filter will harmonize the whole thing...Good job starting off ..keep it up !!

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it this afternoon and I 'll make some pics of it.

As Rick has said, yellow is a better colour to lighten the green with .... it gives the faded look, rather than a grey when using white.
You say that the pre-shading is there, but just very subtle. Remember, when you wash and dry-brush, and add Dusting/pastels/pigments/etc. this will be totally lost. Thats why its better to exaggerate the preshading! Dont be afraid of exaggerating too much either! A few filter layers and washes will tie it all together again, just like a 3 tone camo tied together nicely. keep us updated!
