I decided to start working on another softskin for the Move It! campaign. This kit is the Airfix 1/32 scale VW Beetle 1200. Other than it being a Bug and having righthand drive, I do not know anything about this vehicle in regards to model year, engine specs, etc.
It is a pretty old kit (I just can't get away from hacking on old molds). The body is one piece with some detail pieces like lights, blinkers and bumpers. The chassis suspension was fairly detailed with individual shock absorbers and mounting arms.
I painted the undercarriage flat black and the body Model Masters Acryl semi-gloss black. The interior was painted Model Masters Armor Sand, my standard go to color.
This was a fairly easy build, although clean up of the parts took a while. I should have it completed by this evening. I need to insert the glass, attach the body to chassis and then add and paint the detail parts like lights and chrome.

The Airfix VW is the 1200cc model and the kit was first issued in 1964!

Wow, that makes the original kit as old as me. Of course I'm working on a much more recent issue though. I bought two of them when Model Expo was going out of the plastic kit business. Real cheap, like $1 and change.
I had a hankering to do a car model after seeing some of the stuff at PatCon last Sunday. This was the closest one at hand and the scale was right for armor related modeling.

Rob, I think that is the same Arii kit I picked up and used as a wreck in my Trouble in th e Gaza dio. It was a pretty decent little kit, perfect as a vehicle to drive a tank over.

I don't think so. The VW in your picture has the split rear window and the Airfix one has the one piece rear window.Rob, I think that is the same Arii kit I picked up and used as a wreck in my Trouble in th e Gaza dio.
