Can anyone give me some good tips or links to some information on painting eyes? I will be using acrylic paint. Thanks in advance.

My thought on eyes..1/35.. This is my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. When I do 1/35 the only thing with eyes I worry about are the pupil's. As long as I get the pupils looking the same way and sized right the rest is in the flesh tone.. Reason being if you look at a person in the same scale.. distance wise. You cannot make out the color of their eyes no less see the white..as a matter of fact ..you cant even tell where they are looking. At scale( I have not figured exact distance) hold your fingers 2 inches apart and pick out a person you see ..Notice the detail you can make out that far away. To me it is like a great painting..If you get to close it looks like paint blobs...Stand back and take it all in..Its a masterpiece..sorry if I rambled but I cant understand the reason for such eye detail in a figure (that by scale) is 100 yards or more away.

Ok after what I posted above I have done a scientific study! the photo below is a shot of my daughter Leslie. The photo I started with was 640 x 480 . I held a 1/35 Hornet head next to the screen and resized the photo to the same size. When I started with Leslies photo I could see the color and white of her eyes..but at 1/35 My question is ..What color are her eyes? By the way I measured and I sit 2 feet from the monitor.
My point being is..its in the way you show light , shadows and posture!

Mary & Hilbert,
probably a bit late, but I think the Shep Paine way is one of the best. Although he mostly uses oils (I stand under correction) his method can be adapted to any medium...
