This diorama depicts a patrol boat, river or PBR for short. River Division 153 PBR, along the coast of the Mekong Delta. The idea of this diorama came out of a book, Battles and Campaigns in Vietnam. Base is 24 x 18. The 1/35 dio was made of Tamiya's river boat, foliage is plasyic aquarium plants, balsa wood for the dock, cella clay for the ground base, two part clear resin for the water and 9 of Verlinden's Vietnam figures along with Verlindens accessories. The one thing that caught my eye from the picture out of the book was the bra hanging from the shorten flag post.

WOW - your water is quite well done, and the guy sitting on the pier is GREAT! Lots to look at... but where is all the beer? Never seen that many boys on the shoreline without a few beers!
Hey - politically incorrect, but the timing is right.... you could show a young overhyped guy with a small scratch on his hand caused by shooting himself with a frament of his own M79. He could be applying for a purple heart so he can high-tale it out and begin denouncing his compatriots!

wow i love the look of that water! it looks very realistic, or at least it does in my opinion. I've never seen a vietcong river with my own eyes but i imagine it to be much like that one

The resin goes all the way around the base, just poor lighting. As for the beer, it's there. There's beer bottles floatting along the shore line, one in the river and on the pier post. Most of it was done using Polly-s paints.

I'd like to say first and formost this has nothing to do with Kerry. Lets just say that i'm not in his boat. Enough said . Second i love to model the Vietnam eara. Gun straps... man how did i forget them, oh well. James thanks for pointing that out and will get on that right away.

Nice job on the dio, love the layout.
Well......I don't consider flying jet fighters a runaway move! I do, though, consider a man that comes home from war and speaks Ill of his comrades in arms.. in the same league as Jane Fonda
SORRY! I wont do it again!

As for the political comments about Kerry..i'm assuming that's who was being discussed earlier...well at least he was there in Vietnam an didn't get rich daddy to bail him out of the national guard.
not that american politics is a strong point of mine but at least he was there whilst everyone else was running away to canada or getting college defferments.... ok i'll put the soap box away now...this rant is now over

I like the relaxed atmosphere you have shown in this dio like all of the detail also. The slings on the gun will only add to detail. Its good to show youre work seems like there is always something simple you miss and it is sure to get pointed out hear thats whats makes this place so great. I just wish there were more Nam figures and model kits out there for us Nam modelers.

Hi there mother...
nice layout..nice composition.....
the water also looks real..

Nice Dio ... Mother.....
Like the bra hanging up.... nice detail.
Point of interest..... Kerry was on a Swift.... not a PBR.....
It's a shame that a war that ended so long ago is still dividing the country.....
I certainly hope the boys/girls overseas now continue to get supported, oh, even the guardsmen and reserves serving over there, and here at home, one of them may also someday decide to run for president.
