Hi all,

Got a question about the 5cm PAK38 and 7,5cm PAK40 AT-guns.

I need to know weather their wheelbase has the same size or not And, if not, how big the difference is ! (hope it is correct english, otherwise maybe a dutch member can help me with "wielbasis")

Grt,
Martin

Hi Martin,
There were different wheels for these pieces: open and closed. I'm not sure if both Pak 38 and Pak 40 had different wheels. If seen pictures of both guns with the same wheels:

So there is a fair chance that the weelbase (correct word) is the same.

Scaling some 1/76 drawings I have from Terry Ganders old Almark book I get 65" for the PaK 38 and 66.5 for the PaK40. Now these measurements are to the centre of the wheel. The PaK 40 wheels are wider than the PaK38s so the outside measurements will show a bigger difference in overall width.

Wheelbase isn't really the right word for this, as we are finding out. I think wheel track would be better, but I think we are all on the same page now anyway... :-)
