@ Liberator: The LCM on the pic is being unloaded.
@ John: it is no RB 19, but something similar.

Harald, that's what I'm afraid of -- it looks like a larger version. I've done a bunch of research but haven't got a good enough answer to shell out all that money ....

John :

I think the crawler is the same size as the RB 19 but made by a different manufacturer. The boom looks similar to the RB 19's . Not realy stronger or longer. The cab has a different design, but seems to have similar dimensions. Only the rig looks stronger. May be a Manitowoc. But I am not common with U.S. manufacturers of construction equipment.

happy modelling

I just ran across this very old thread, but will say that the LCM-3 is being raised out of the river, vs. being launched.

1) You can notice a "wet waterlin" in the bow area that was most recently in the water.

2) If it was being lowered, the crane would be rotated toward the river, which might prevent the hull from scraping on the stone embankment.

3) There is a secondary cable that appears to be running to the DW. The positioning of this only makes sense if the LCM-3 is being winched onto the transport.

4) If it was being launched for an operation, it seems unlikely that there would be such a casual atmosphere, with many civilians allowed to watch.

I guess you're right. The caption says "An elaborate system of ramps has been constructed to assist a crane in loading the LCM's and one is in the process of going down on the deck of the M15."
