Possibly slightly off topic, but I was delving around reasearching the 128 mm gun when I noticed that in comparison to the 88 mm, the 128 wasn't as powerful when comparing armor penetration values. At 1000 m the 128 mm L61 (APC round) can penetrate 150 mm of armor. Where as the 88 mm L71 (APCR round) can penetrate 193 mm.

Now here's the question, there are two listings for the 128 mm, the 128 mm/L61 and the 128 mm/L55. Which was mounted on the E100? The Jadgtiger also mounted the 128, what did it use?

Mike, I'm not sure about the E-100 but the Jagdtiger used the L/55. (I hope I read that right it's early ) edit: OK, I've had breakfast and I'm really awake now, double checked and that is correct for the JT. Changing the subject just a little, interestingly enough I have read and heard from several sources that the 7.5cm kwk L/70 that the Panther mounted was superior to both the 128 & 88.

The L55 128 mm can penetrate 167 mm (APCBC round) of armor at 1000 m. Though, based on these tables, the 88 mm L71 (193 mm @ 1000 mm) is still the winner even compared to the 75 mm L70 (149 mm @ 1000 m, APCR round).
