Been trying to mix a decent flesh tone, but can't seem to come up with a convincing look.
Anyone have any suggestions?Acrylics or oils i'm not fussed,as long as it looks good.

Go to your local Games Workshop and look at their own brand Citadel Miniatures paints. They have a "bronzed flesh" acrylic, which isn't too bad a starting point.

yeah g.w. paints are still really good
however just before i left g.w. they changed the paint formula now its a little washy hard to get good coverage and if over worked even slightly will dry real lumpy
so take care with them
also vallejo "game colour" do a colour called parasite brown
simply mix it with white and or a little grey for shadows thats what i painted my s.s. bust with! good luck mate

afternoon Rafterman,
couple questions, what figures are you working on?, what is the location in the world? what is the weather climate like, desert, mountains, open plains, winter ? all those things will have a factor in how the characters flesh tones will come out. least with My figures I try to incorperate all that.. chuckles probly whey most of them are still in various stages lol..
take a couple photo's an post them for better help though is My advise..
as for paints vallejo and andrea are the best I've found for acrylic work with figures and a nice lil wash with oils does wonders too.
cheers an good luck
Chris

John: I am in the same boat as you. Read the attached write up by Mongo Mel. It is a first class write up that has some much to offer for those of us who struggle with getting the flesh right. Give it a shot and good luck.

I like to keep it simple...Titanium white and burnt Sienna. Oils. Take a look at the pics in "my photos" below to see what you can do. Except for the Apache, these are all done with that formula. For really dark shadows, I might use a touch of Burnt umber or Van Dyke brown. Varying the amounts of the two basic colors gives you base, shadow and highlight. It's also very easy to touch up when have only two variables.
