I'm really curious as to the layout of this. WIth the mix of figures and pnzr it could be a big diorama.
The skin tones are nice. The pnzr seems a bit shiney, could be the photo? As it progresses it will come to life with weathering.

I like all the figures. Who makes them?

Thanks for the comments and questions. Scott, the tank is shiny as it has ben gloss coated and then washed with oils. It is now waiting for decent weather and the time to apply the flat coat. The figures are an assortment: German tank commander is a Verlinden figure from set 1711. The kneeling German soldier is a Warriors figure; the standing German infantryman is from Nemrod; the US GI carrying the bazooka is a 1/32 figure from Michael Roberts, and the other GI is Warriors number 35059 I believe. The final figure (not shown) is a GI with a BAR, also from Warriors. I am still working on the layout as the fighting in Krinkelt was at very close quarters with the GIs using bazookas very effectively against the 12th SS tanks due to darkness and foggy conditions.

The stuff looks great. People ask that you reduce the shininess later on, and I kinda agree, but I really love how in some places it give the tank a glossed-over (duh) oily effect. And yeah, thanks for telling us the figures, they are really great. I only have 1 question: what are you doing to support them? supporting them like that (unless it is an unsturdy mount for temporary display) looks like a very efficient way to pant. I usually had to paint one part and wait for it to dry so that I could hold it to paint another.
What is your major malfunction?

Harrison: I just sent you a PM regarding flesh painting.
Spectre: I use toothpicks to hold the figures while they are being painted. I drill a small hole using my pin vise into the bottom of the foot or leg and super glue the toothpick in. This works well as i can hold the toothpick rather than the figure while painting, can insert the toothpick into styrofoam for overnight storage and finally, when it is time to attach the figures to the base, I clip off most of the toothpick and use the rest as an anchor to hold the figure.

Hi Keith, its looking very good so far. You have an interesting group of figures going here. I feel this will add a lot to the finished dio. The flesh tones are good and I think the pz4 is looking very good too. Can you fill us in on what type set up you are going to be making the base as? I am kinda curious is it going to be an urban scene inside krinkel? or will it be in the forests around the location? I cant wait to see as you progress, take lots of pics and keep us posted. Cheers Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I am still working on the layout but I do know it will be an "urban" setting. I will be using Verlinden's Ardennes Farm Ruin and possibly Kancali's stone walls. The idea is that the tank commander is urging the two hesitant SS infantrymen to move out and check ahead for ambushes and the three GIs coming around a corner and surprised to find a PIV that close.

This looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the finished setup. I had a question though. I am new to this and might be asking a question everyone else already knows the answer to. How do you model the chin straps on the helmets? And what do you use to get the weapon slings? This looks great and I will be following this one intently!
