I intend to put in my website a page with all the instructions of my built kits (about a hundred or so) to help those who lost them or purchased kits without them.
My question is : is it legal and compliant with the copyright ?
TIA

If the instructions are marked as copyrighted, they can only be reproduced legally with the written permission of the copyright owner

Actually copyright still applies even if there's no mention of it anywhere. Best bet would be to ask the companies. It shouldn't be a big deal because the booklets are of no use without the kits.

Bison126 -
A great idea and the kind of help/support one would expect from the fantsatic people on the best modeling site. I do agree with "Druid" though in that to protect yourself and others that would use the information, it would be best to check with the Companies concerned. They may even agree to provide the info. Thanks for thinking of us and my hats off to your intent.

Hi all,
OK don't want to be put into custody for my intent
I'll probably follow the advice above and just put a list in my site so those interested in might contact me through my mailbox.
My bet is that PDF files would be better than simple JPG scanned pics of the booklets ?

I'm not legally trained or stuff like that, but I would think that copyright for printed matter would be fairly standard.
If you read the copyright info at the front of a book it states:
"NO PART ...MAY BE REPRODUCED, STORED OR TRANSMITTED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSIONOF THE PUBLISHER..."
I think it would be best to write to the kit mmakers.

Multiple pages will be easier to browse in PDF if that's what you mean. The picture quality will be about the same because it's still a bitmap instead of vectors.

Looks good Steve.....
Olivier, I'd go with that format, and site set up....
keeps the wolves away from the door..... so it would be more like sharing a book from YOUR book shelf with a friend, that YOU already bought and paid for.

If you DO manage to be allowed to post the instructions on the internet legally, promise us you'll post a link to where you hosted them.
