I have had many gracious offers of help over the past 3 years. Sadly I have been unable to act on and reply to every offer. For those who might have made the attempt and not gotten anywhere I apologize. Nothing personal on my end I assure you. For the past year or so I have actually been a bit hesitant to add more staff members until I can get better procedural and technical documents written up to make it easier to train new content editors and other staff postions.

But...in the meantime there is something that many of you who want to help out can do. We need people to help recruit new contributors and content for the site. For the first year or I was able to do this myself, but as time has gone on I lack the time and followup capability to do this well. There are few times that I contact someone about their work or written articles and I did not get a positive response back. However keeping all these people organized and following up with them has proven to be problematic.

So...what we need are a small group of staff members who's sole purpose is to recruit and deliver new content to the site. I believe I will call them "Content Scouts".

If you are interested in this job please contact me. Obviously we are looking for people to get content for more than just Armor/AFV. Diorama, Warship, Figures and definately Aircraft (as we are sorely lacking there since Bryan's deployment). Also non-english content as well.

Thanks,
Jim

Here is the job description and other aspects of the job. Those still interested should contact me via the sites contact form (to webmaster).

Thanks!
Jim

Content Scout

Job Description: Acquiring new content and managing our those relationships with our content contributors is the primary job of a Content Scout. There are countless sources of written and photographic content on the web. A Content Scout will search for these items or keep this goal in mind while browsing the Web. Once they find something of interest they will attempt to locate the contributors contact info and make contact with the potential contributor to promote the idea that they submit either existing material they may have already published or new material in the future. Content Scouts will be many of these potential contributors "first impression" of the site. They will need to communicate in a polite and efficient manner. Content Scouts will manage each of these new relationships so contributors feel they have a personal connection to the site and its staff. This is an important aspect to any attempt to maintain long-lasting relationships with our content contributors. Content Scouts will need to be familiar with many of the technical requirements of the submission process so they can work with both the contributor and the editor to solve any issues that may arrise. In rare circumstances the Content Scout may actually be the person submitting the material electronically via the Support Center (support.armorama.com).

SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Communication and writing skills are a plus
• Organizational and time-management skills
• Work well in a team environment

Benefits: As a staff member Content Scouts will have access to the staff forum and their name will appear on the staff listing pages in the About Us section of the site. They will also have staff-level access to the gallery so that uploading images and creating categories will be possible. They will also have unlimited storage space for photos. A staff email address is also an opion for Content Scouts that request it.

Compensation: This is a volunteer position (as are all our positions).

Hours: 5 hrs per week

Hi Jim,
I would like to be useful somehow. You can count on me. Plus, I have some knowledge in HTML if necessary. And the best, I am retired, then I have plenty of available time.

Cheers,

Sorry...I did get both your and Jan's offer of help. I am in the process of making some staff changes which will leave us one short in the content scout area. So yes it is still open.

Thanks for your offer and I will get back with you on it as soon as I know more.

Thanks,
Jim

Let me know what I can specificly do for the Big A.

(Or, as Uncle Sam would say: It's not a question what the Big A can do for you, but what you can do for the Big A!)
:-)
I can also write some content if desired, what subjects and interest needed most?
Waiting for a post from you!
