Below are the pics of my 1st entry.
I call it: Tango Down!

The figures used are Dragon Seal Team 3.
The figures were build as per instructions with the change of the M-4 to an MP5 (using also a Dragon MP5/G3 family gun kit). I added the gun straps and modified the swim fins (drilled out foot openings and added in back straps). The base was built out of a wooden box trimmed and fnished, the SEAL Trident was picked up at a local Army Surplus store. The deck was built using balsa wood strps and wooden dowels, I used nylon cord painted and drybrushed on the pillars. The accessories are a mixture of kits from Italeri, Dragon and Tamiya accessory sets. I hope you like this one :

WOW!! I don't know where to start... how did you do the decking? how did you do the wet footprints (I really loved that one)? how did you make the water? how did you make it look so good?

I would really like to swim in that water! it looks so fresh and clean.

The water does look better in the picture than in normal light-the flash "pierced" through and the whole display is a little brighter.
For the deck... I picked up some balsa strips from my local Hobby Lobby, same with the dowels used for the pier "stands". I trimmed it and under is a balsa support (a triangle made to fit the box). The triangle is supported by one dowel in the rear and the three in the front-the front is two dowels (one longer one shorter-the shorter is where the triangle support rest on). For the painting and weathering-no plan.. just started using thinned out acrulic browns and reds.. topped off with black.. just make a mess. SInce its balsa it sucks it right up and since its acrylic-as long as it did not dry I could sort of blend in the colors.

On the figures and the wet foot prints I used Testors acrylic semi gloss and just dripped it on the wood.. then spread out.. on the figures.. just added a thin coat witha brush where I "thought" the water would not dry off so quick.

I used "realistic water" from Woodland Scenic and then used the "water effects" from the same company to apply the waves-I used a q-tip to spread the wave out and did it in several layers-I have to be honest and tell you that I had no clue what I was doing with it but it came out decent for a first try.

I think its the little things that help out, the straps, nails, empty shells, the water spots. I am really glad you guys like it as it is a first dio I have completed in years.

Very impressive scene Tommy. A complete picture and no space wasted, yet kept compact and to the point. I love the divers ... an unusual little scene, but excellently made and painted. Good attention to detail as well! Excellent!

Tommy_Guns, that is an absolutely excelent build. The colors, composition, everything looks fantastic. moJimbo, that missile launcher is a SMAW (don't know what the letters stand for but they do stand for something).

The next entry (I still have to get the groundwork going) is a lot simplier-just a piece of an airport runway and two Seals moving up the runway-virtually nothing but open space-trying to replicate/honor Operation Just Cause and the team that faught at Patilla Airfield.

Looks awesome. I used the same figures with some old swimming Frogmen from the Revell UDT Boat kit for a simmilar dio a while ago. Here it is:

Nice-I like that. Two questions-where did you get the swimmers from? (I know I have seen the swimming scubas before but can't put my finger on where I saw them). And second... how did you stick them under the water???-resin water or another method?

Glad you like it. Swimmers are from an old Revell/Monogram 1/32 UDT Boat kit, long OOP. Had to do some mods on them and add modern weapons too. The "water" is glass that I tinted with stained glass paints, green and blue mixed to a deep water color. The base is a picture frame, the swimmers are inside the frame, under glass with a bottom painted the same as the glass to give the look of depth. All the boats are cut at the waterline and epoxied to the glass.

Very impressive dio Tommy_Guns. The water, the little details on the wharf, even the main supports. Youv'e packed a lot of goodies in this one and in a nice base too. Looking forward to see the other half of the DML Seal team at Pattila. I'm also doing a wharf scene for the Quiet Professional except it involves the British SBS raiding a boat carrying drugs on the Thames.

HeavyArty that's a very unique dio especially with the divers really adding to the 3D effect.
