Just finished this guy in time for a local show this week end. I beefed up the splinter pattern a bit from what the directions called for on the paint scheme. Comments welcome. "Q"

Another fantastic model from you. I love the color pattern (and it's fading) and the weathering is top notch. Looks like a real winner to me.
Opps, I didn't see this was posted in Rivet Review... well, it looks like your base is a little warped. But the vehicle is beyond reproach!

Looking good Red, but you have put some nice mud on the corners, I would have added more mud along the skirts and also some on the contraption on the front (mineplows??). It would blend it together better, as I feel that it looks as if the mud has not yet been finished. I don't mean to cover the whole kit in mud, just a bit more like at the back section on pic 2.
I second Porkchop about the fading of the paint, very nice.
Cheers

Wow, that looks awesome! I just love Finnish and Swedish camo. The only thing I would change are the tracks - I don't think they would be so shiny while the rest of the vehicle is so dirty. Could you tell us more about the model? Which kits did you use, which colors?

I really like the rusted runoff from the rivet's it's subtle and well done. One thing I noticed is that on the front bottom of the track armor in the second pic, the wear on the corner looks alot like what would happen when someone tries to light paint on fire. It's a really great effect, and I'd like to know how to recreate it, but from here it doesn't look like crusted mud... unless those things I think are paint peels are grains of gunk... it looks right on the back

Thanks for the comments guys. The base isn't warped. It's sitting on top of something. I was in a rush to get some pics up and just set it down where I could. Believe it or not, I didn't fade anything on the vehicle except the black areas. Averything else was just washed and some very very selctive dry-brushing added. I will more than likely remove it from the base after the show and put on a different base with some ground work and maybe a figure or two.
The kit is the Dragon release, and is completely OOB.
Spectre- I'm not sure what you are referring to about "Melted Paint". The mud maybe? Acrylic modeling paste was used for this, then sprayed with a dark brown and lightlydry-brushed with some British Armour Sand color from the Model master line.
The markings are from a 1/48 aircraft kit as I couldnt locate the kit decals. They are a little oversize, but I think they look ok to me.
Tomorrow I will post what colors I used for the painting. I have to get some sleep. I am on the judging comittee for the show tomorrow and have to be in there early. Thanks again for the kind words. "Q"

One thing I noticed int he first two pics...the AT-5 is mounted backwards. The "bulging" end should be to the rear.
Otherwise, fantastic paint job and weathering. It is really nicely done, and flat!

I used the kit instructions as a reference. It only showed the three color scheme, but it looked rather boring when I got the colors laid in. Therefore, I decided to add a darker green into the mix as well. Maybe not 100% accurate, but I like the look. As to the AT-5, you can thank the instructions once again. An easy enough fix if it is backwards.
Just an update for you folks as well- the BMP took best Small Army subject at the show today as well as a Gold award.Overall our show was rather low in attendance with only 41 enries on the tables. We think a large part of that is due to the snow storm that is supossed to dump 6-10" of snow on us. We figured folks didnt want to risk being stranded at a model show. Oh well, maybe next year the turn out will be better. Thanks again for the comments. "Q"

COOL!!! I saw this kit on display at the show. I brought a buddy of mine and his young son. I was pretty disappointed by the small showing as I drove him and his boy down from Denver in the snow but as you said, the snow probably kept many people away.
I really liked this kit. Very different with that Camo scheme and it really stood out. It was a battle between yours and that Famo Crane for my peoples choice. I ultimately chose the Famo but yours was a very close second.
Great Job!! Next year I'll bring something down just to fill out the tables ...

Glad hear somebody came down from Denver to see us! Yeah, the small showing kind of made for a dull show, but like you said, the snow was probably a big cause of that. Bill's FAMO was unbelievable. Can you believe that from the cab back was pretty much scratchbuilt? He salvaged a few of the running gear pieces, but for the most part it was all scratched! The guy does some amazing work. Just the rest of you can see what I am talking about, check out these pics. Unreal. "Q"
