Hi everyone. It has been awhile since I have posted an update and feel it was time to show my progress on the mid carpathian dio I have been working on. All but 4 figs are finished ( the marder crew and two of the soldiers in camo at the front of the bridge are still in progress) also I am still working on the marder itself. It is almost ready for the decals and weathering . The one house is waiting on a roof and windows as well as some interior goodies. So aside from those things and a few animals and wildlife for it I would say its pretty much finished. Any comments or criticism is welcome and appreciated. I would like to hear from anyone that has anything to say on this. I also would like to thank Nato308 for making me the wonderful custom signs for the location I chose and also for making the scale "Marks" for the bartering scene. Oh and for those wondering I ended up putting 40 figs on this. Well enough talk here are the pics. Let me know what you think. Cheers Kevin

Kevin, You are doing a wonderful job on this one...was kind of wondering where it went..long time no see..So much to look at and absorb. My favorite shot is the 2 boys at the river and the view is up the bank. How did you create the tall grass on the bank?..its rich and full! I really like the whole look and I,m not sure I can criticize anything...Me likes it!

edit: One nit pick...and I know its not done..The bridge is to clean! The more I look the more I love the lushness! Colors fly out at ya!

Kevin looks great and the colors are wonderful. So much action and detail. I love the stream and the detail that went into to it. Nice to hear that your back on you feet and modeling again. Oh, Congrats to Mary and yourself. Cheers

One more thing. How much time invested on this diorama.

The dio is looking very good... awesome... and a source for inspiration for the future.

it is funny to see how the camera can play tricks; in one of the pics it almost looks as the turret of the Panzer III is painted in different colors (turret lighter color then the mantlet), while in one of the bottom ones, it almost looks like you forgot to paint the rubber roadwheels on the Pz III.

That is one big beautiful dio. I love all the action and the scene is set up very nicely. It may just be the pic but the wheels on the Pz III don't look like the rubber is painted. I may be wrong. If so disregard and congrats on a well done project.

Hola Kevin,

Wow man, you have done a great job on this one. What I particularly like are the colours. Everthing looks so natural. The groundwork, vegetation the stream. Beautiful! Can you provide us a pic of the stream?

And also a great job on the figures!

a for you.

O another question,

When your dio is finished, are you going to make a display case or something like that to keep your work dust free?

Nice update - your usual great work.
Don't forget to furnish the houses!
You did a good job of spacing, positioning, angling figures (on the hill)

Kevin,

Extremely impressive, I particularly like the use of the space to show the overall theme but the little side stories as well. From ever angle, something draws the eyes without becoming a distraction, excellent dio.

BTW, I recognize some of the figures and if they were anywhere near the condition as the two sets that I purchased, I not only applaud you, I must bow as well.

Very well done

Kevin, Wow..as usual, you have done an exceptional job so far. The time you have invested into this one has really paid off. How many months has it been in the works, at least 4 or so that i am sure of. Even though it isn't all the way finished yet, it still is an outstanding job.
I kow i c/o the time you spend on it sometimes, but...im getting use to it, (sort of)..HEHE..

I like your dio very much. You situated your scene in Poland 150 km from Warsaw in 1941 during Barbarossa operation. Am I right?

Hi Everyone. First I would like to thank everyone for their comments and then try to answer some questions. John- the bridge will be getting the direty treatment, when all elements are in place I will hit it with the pastels. Joseph- I started thinking about this dio back in the spring but actually started on it in june or july I beleive. The figures have taken the longest amount of time, followed by daisies. Harm & Paul- the Pz III indeed has the road wheels painted its just the dust effect I applied has toned down and mostly covered the wheels. When I get a chance to take some pics outside I am sure you will notice this. Jurjen- When I get a sunny day I will get some better natural pics of the stream, for now I think there may be a couple pics in my gallery. I have no clue as to a display case this dio is a good size it is 27in x 15in. any suggestions for one? Scott- the first houses upstairs is done with the exception of a broom, I am still pondering what to do with the basements of each house. Also am getting ready to start bending tubing and make a iron/brass bed for the second house. Suffian the two resting guys are getting chewed out by the soldier standing with them and pointing. I will get better pics and you will see he is yelling at these guys. I was going to put a couple more figs back on that side walking along but wasnt sure it needed it. What do you think? Tomek- this is not for Barbarossa but you have the location correct It is the march to the Kursk offensive, where lots of different elements of the german army came together at a bridge head kinda causing a traffic jam. I hope I have addressed all questions. If there are any more please ask, if any one sees something I may have missed or something I could add to make it better please feel free and post!!! Thanks again for all comments. Cheers Kevin

Well well Brother Kevin.
As u know i have been following this one from the desinging to the end , and the end is really so close now. All the work is simply outstanding and all your effort is really paying off, as it should . Your ground work is simply fantastic and the tight planning has produced a strong scene with small stories that share nicely the viewers interest .
All these figures have been so much work to do ....
What to say Bro its a winner. Remember this next time u go to a competition and u get back with the medal !!!!

BRAVO
