Ok, So I know this is a ridiculous thing to ask... but I'm gonna ask anyway before I finally say screw it and eyeball the dimensions.

I'm adding the flare storage box to the inner left wall of the Tamiya Wespe.
It's for a club build, due in 3 weeks. I am adamantly NOT buying any aftermarket for the build, but will scratch details or raid the spares box.

My spares box is out, the Tiger Models part is obviously oversized, or not actually a flare storage box.

I've got decent references, and the Aber and Eduard etch set instructions (I didn't say I wouldnt see what was in the sets, just that I wouldnt buy them...)

Unfortunately, The Achtung Panzer vol. does NOT give dimensions for the flare box.

So does anyone out there have the measurements for the flare box part
# 30 in the Eduard set.. I can't seem to find that page of the Aber instructions at the momnet..

Or real life measurements of the box from a Wespe other than Samur (which is missing the box, iirc)

Yeah, it's retentive and silly, but I had to ask first.

Well, can't help you with the measurments, but if you can't find out, I'd go with a good "guessiment". You already said the Tiger Models one was too large, so shoot for one a little smaller.

Mike,
I eyeballed the dimensions based on the sizes between the brackets and photos of Steven Milstone-Turner's Wespe on WW2Modelmaker. I think they turned out well.

Dave,
That's probably what I'll have to do.
The drawings in the Achtung Panzer book are great and have dimensions for the missing radio equipment, but not for the flare box.

Are you finished with yours yet?
did you add any aftermarket to it?

You should see the pantload of stuff John R and Dennis are using! We had a build day there last Sat (Mac John, Dennis and I)

Dennis is doing the munitionsschlepper vers.. very nice!

Its done, for what its worth, but still need to add stowage, etc. No aftermarket, but just scratched the flare boxes, blanked off the hull openings including the sponsons, and added brass wire handles across the top.

I didn't even wire the radio or the antenna/radio connection!

I can't wait to see what you guys are building...there's a lot of talent in your group!

Aftermarket... yeah, that was my thought too,.

No out of pocket aftermarket for this project and mannnnn have I got the aftermarket habit bad!
It was dificult to resist.. barrel here, tracks there.. but I stayed strong..

I added little bits and pieces from the spares box and from plastic,
wired the radio as it exists, but did not (yet) scratch the missing components,
hope to add a DML earphones/lyrangaphone.
added the MG34 and stowage boxes to the rt side, swaped out for an earlier model tail/convoy light, added the engine starter crank,
wired the headlight,
added a fire extinguisher there next to the rt side MP , man was that a tight fit!
Stuck an ammo box into the storage box on the rt. side,
added steps to the rear hull,

still have some little bits to add to the gun and the tool stowage.

I still might try to add the radio bits and the gunshield to carriage braces.

Thanks for the compliment, most of that talent is in Mac, John R and Dennis

As for the contest portion, it's all in good fun. Just as long as Kurt does not win....

Dave,
See you tomorrow night, weather permitting.

I just finished up with mine.

"Wasps in the park" , Wespe parked under a tree in front of a wrecked brick fence, broken wasps nest in tree above it, bottom half of wasps nest sitting on the hull.

I talked with Dennis last Thurs, he said he and John R were nowhere near done and would have to put in some serious bench time to come in before the deadline.

I know Mac's is done, yours and mine.

It will be interesting to see who else makes it.

Mike
