LOL...I just made a rather big discovery....
Apparently the Front Gate module only tracks people and updates their "time-stamp" in the database if they are on a page that DISPLAYS the front gate (who's online box). So since I have had it on the right for many months (a year?) now many users cruising the forum have not been on the list (unless they came via a page that did show the front gate.
All very confusing I know but suffice to say I will be interested in seeing what our totals look like with the change.
Cheers.
Jim

Interesting...... I just noticed tonight that it is now appearing on the fourms pages..... is that new? I don't remember ever seeing it there before, (but then again I don't remember breakfast somedays.... OK most days) only on the home page. I like the idea, since I don't have to go to the home page to see if someone came in.

Jim,
That is a very cool addition I always like to see if any of my buddies are online.

Woow Jim
Looks like the addition of the Front Gate to all pages results in quite some impressive numbers of visitors.
Checked 81 in the forums just a minute ago.
great job

I liked being in the stealth mode. No one knew when I was here.
I just noticed we went over 100 users online, and America is just waking up on the East coast.

"... I liked being in the stealth mode. No one knew when I was here. ..."
I always suspected you were lurking out there somewhere...........
Glad to see the new numbers Jim. I'm with shonen on this, I always had to go back to the main page to see if somebody was still online and could maybe still reply to my post.....
I like it, even though Sabot's probably missin' his 'camo'...

Rob,
A lot of the newer forums offer a "don't show me as being online" feature. I can add that to the profile options if you'd like.

Tread....LOL
I had a feeling this would happen as when I made the change last night at 11pm PST our total went from 35 to 50+ right away.
I didn't know so man people were sneaking about in the forums.
Also some users are reporting a problem posting. I don't think the changes I made last night would affect posting in the forums... but DEFINATELY don't use the sites IP address as a means of browsing the site as that is what I am using to develop some new functionality for the site.
Thanks,
Jim

Okay...now this is record territory.
Base Visitors: 108
Enlisted Personel: 42
Actively Online: 150
But it's not like it hasn't been this way for some time. It was just the fact that the front gate system was not tracking this for many visitors.

Hmmmmmm, this is interesting, now I'm home and on a different computer I have no front gate at all. Is it something I've done?
