This is just in from Tamiya's web site: The German Antitank Mechanized Gun Murder III M Sorry it's written in Japanese. Just use Altavista's Babelfish
It looks to be intensely beautiful. I'm jealous.

Hi Ken

The kti looks marvy!!!!!!!

I really like the look of the intermediate Marder version, with the beefed up gunshield from the original Marder III. I wonder when we'll see that??

I'm not into German armor but, it does look sharp!
According to their (Tamiya's) website, it's due in September.

PS: I'm really surprised at the low number of reply posts here. I thought you German armor fans would be drooling and rejoicing over the news! Hmmm...

Ha!

Too early on a holiday weekend maybe!
It will be interesting to see how the Tamiya kit compare's to Alan's release. Of course we know which will sell more!

Cheers
Andy

PS I hear the boss getting up! Time to stop surfing the web and get to work on our 1:1 scale house...

It'll be interesting to see if Tamiya is going to come out with a 38t family now that they've taken a first step, think about the sIG33 version of the Marder with that 150mm plopped down in the fighting compartment!

Actually, the Marder IIIM is listed for taking preorders.

I don't think it's due for a couple of months yet.

#:-) Let's hope this a foreshadowing of things to come from Tamiya. I'm looking forward to a whole family of vehicles based on the 38(t). Tamiya is THE BEST for injection molded kits! Jeff

The Tamiya Marder II is an older release by Tamiya. If you've worked with older Tamiya kits you know what you're getting into. It is based on the hull of the old Tamiya Panzer II Ausf. F/G so it has all of the motorization holes and has a lot of detail molded onto the hull that wouldn't be if it were up to Tamiya's current standards. That being said, the kit can be built into a pretty nice model with a little TLC and maybe some AM items (especially the tracks, they need replaced badly as they are the old Tamiya rubber band style with no detail on the inside). Just do yourself a favor and don't pay more than $15 for it because it just isn't worth more than that.

I humbly disagree. I would say that Tamiya is ONE of the best. I feel that DML, Skybow, and Fine Molds are all just as good. I haven't actually worked with an Academy or AFV Club kit, but I hear that their new stuff is on par with today's Tamiya as well. Just my opinion.

Hey Adam!

I agree that Tamiya is certainly not alone in great kits now. Although Academy is very inconsistent, they have some good ideas, and the DML StugIII series is fantastic. Heck, I have built a few Eastern European kits, and the ICM Luchs is a treat!! And you can get it for $10!!!

Anyway, I will add that the Tamiya kits are sweet, and it's always good to see there is competition for the title of "best injection kit"!!!

Hey guys...I should have inserted that it was "my opinion" that Tamiya is the best. I have the AFV Club SdKfz 11..what a nice kit..and the Acadamy Early Tiger is very nice. I've built the ICM Luchs and the DML JagdTiger. Some of the Italeri stuff is really decent.. BUT....I know when I open a newly released kit by Tamiya...chances are it's going to be excellent! Sometimes I don't even want to build it because it looks so nice in the box...just kidding. I guess I'm just loyal to the company because my first armor models were Tamiya kits and they have been there plugging away for the 30+ years that I've been modelling. You guys starting out now have it made with the variety of kits that are out there. What's great for all of us is the fact that these days most of the kits that we dreamed about when we were kids...are here! Jeff

Adam and Andy, can't agree with you more, any day, I will choice a DML one instead of a Tamiya, the individual track link alone is sweet enough.
