Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows which vehicles were used to tow the M59 Long Tom 155mm?

From the internet searches i have found, it's usually the M4 High Speed Tractor or the M35 Prime Mover.

Any help is appreciated.

Corbitt 6X6, Mack NO 6X6 to name two trucks.

Corbitt is availiable in resin from PSP models France and the Mack NO in resin from Azimut/ADV.

There is a thread on the Mack NO. Put Mack in search and you should come up with it.

Hope this helps

The two vehicles dsignated to tow the 155mm gun, Long Tom, were:
-- M4 HST, resin kit by PSP
-- Mack NO, resin kit by ADV/Azimut

The Corbitt, mentioned above, could only tow 16,500lp and so was about 14,000 short of handling the Long Tom. I believe it was used with the 155mm *Howitzer*.

While the M35 could tow the Long Tom, it was an interim standard until the M-6 HST was completed; these were not intended for use with the Long Tom. It is possible that after the M6 came out, the M35's were used, but I cannot recall a picture of same.

The M35 wasn't created for the Long Tom. It wasn't very common so I don't think units would have given up theirs to others just to haul M59s.

I believe this is a marketing ploy by AFV Club to get some bites from both of their releases.

WW2 photos show Mack NOs and M4 HSTs and M33s

Thanks for the info.

In the following link, there are some pics of the HST with Long Tom. Anyone knows who released this HST kit?

Has Tamiya released a HST quite some time back?

Thanks.

The M4 HST kit is by PSP.
Tamiya does not have one.

Try www.missionmodels.com as a start point for either the M4 HST or Mack NO -- I got mine from there.
