Either Dragon or Tristar
Reviewed here

and in here somewhere

The old Italeri model (now boxed by Zvezda) was excellent for its day, but is now a bit out-classed.

The models that Drader refers to are Panzer I A. You should take a look at the Panzer I F too, it is quite different than the 1A. I only know of one company making a plastic Panzer 1F - Alan Hobby.

Don't forget the new master box ltd.'s panzers. But if you're looking for a basic panzer I, then buy either Dragon's or Trimaster's offering. I have the ammunition carrier Panzer in my stash half-built. Details are nice and moulding is sharp but there is some flash and mould lines to take care of. Master Box kit also includes individual tracks, which are nicely detailed and flash-free, but don't fit very well. I assembled a few and every single track piece has to be filed and sanded to make them fit to each other.
Maybe I'll build up the courage to tackle that someday. Or at least before I make the mistake of buying one from Dragon or Trimaster!

Dragons Panzer I b is a very nice kit too so it all depends on which model you want to build...Take your choice and spend your money...Oh by the way the F kit is not bad but is not up the the level of the A and B kits and the tracks are terrible on the F kit almost unusable without hours of clean up time...Friuls to the rescue!!
