It's been a couple of months since I've been back in the forum nosing around. The last topic I posted was Help with Diorama of Lebanon War, and as usual the good people here are always helpful, so now I've finally finished the Dio. Unfortunately the customer only asked me to build it after he recieved the Magach 6B and IDF troops, thus I call it a Stand Alone Dio with no Magach 6 & IDF troops, but just for pictures-sake I included my M1..heheh
I know that my version of a street in Lebanon during the 1980s Israeli incursion...is not totally accurate, but heck I did my best with the time n references I could get.. It's my first diorama!
But please give your input as all constructive critism is greatly appreciated!
Note that the pics are a bit dark
and..an Abrams in Lebanon?

The Magach 6B that'll b going on it:

Take away the Lebanese signs and add some Iraqi signs and you have anOIF dio.
For your fisrt dio, that looks awsome. What did you use after all for the buildings?

Wow your first dio? You must be kidding! My first dio was a real disaster (altough I learned a lot from it)
It looks good! Nice set up, the civil car is a nice addition, and the street and the houses look good!
And the tank....well I think your Magach 6B (never heard of before) looks amazing! Well done!
Just 1 thing about the dioramapics: try do make them at daylight, because the flash makes the colours look much too bright on photo's....The photo of the Magach 6B is great btw!
Greetings,
Martin

Excellent work, the colours are very life like, I like the Magach 6 it reminds me of the Tiger1 a real brute of a tank. what kit is that, I was thinking of doing Academys offering.

Your dio is a very nice work , and if ur first , then u have the road ahead for big things. The M60 also is a super nice tank to add in there. Guys not the machine gun over the main barrel that is only noticed on the Israelli M60;s (at least i think so ).
Very good work , and i think u have studied carefully the pictures of ruined houses cause u ve worked nicely on them
Bravo

Excellent for a first dio. The subject you chose is not a popular subject, and I think this kind of a variation makes the forum more tasteful.
Congratulations!

Oh oh my head's getting big now Thanks for all your praises & comments! & yes I need to spend more time on taking proper pics...and to think that I'm a freelance photographer sort of !
I hope to write an article on building this dio soon and post it on this site.
Epi I used VPs buildings, added with kitty litter & foamboard, and sand for rubble, wire for reba, then painted in enamels - off white, greys, & yellow mixes as primary, then dry brushed with yellow & brown tones & mixes of earth colours & washed heavily with different shades. then dry brushed again a little with both lighter & darker tones. I kind of paint to conventional colours then bring out realism by what colours my eyes approve, mainly cause after awhile of painting, everything just looks ugly and wrong!
Easy_Co I used Academy's IDF MBT M60A1 Blazer, from what I found out the kit is actually trying to depict the IDF Magach 6B GAL (with upgraded rectangular turret basket, fire control unit, thermal sleeve, etc) however since the kit does not come with the upgrades, it's sort of an inaccurate M60 in transition of upgrade. I did alot of research on this & with help from the guys here as well, I've decided to convert it into the Magach 6B with 1 .50 cal on the main gun, thermal sleeve & M60 octagonal tracks (not the merkava tracks that come in the kit-that's for the GAL version - Legend makes them- I haven't built it yet )
Still there are alot of Magach 6 versions since the IDF had always been upgrading those tanks. I love what the Israelis did to these old US M60s With all the external armor they really look aggressive.
Weapons,etc like this
All the pics can be seen here:

Unfortunately this dio goes to a customer, well that's the job!
Anyway sad to say that most of the modelling community here in Singapore aren't very into sharing ideas and I've never heard of a real modelling show here recently!

Very nice work, the only things I noticed having served 4 years in Lebanon in the early 80's.
1. I saw more bombed out Mercedes Benz than I did VW's minor detail.
2. I do not recall ever seeing any signs in Lebanon with Hebrew on them, being mainly a Christian and Islamic country. There is always a chance there was one after all I didn't see every sign in Lebanon ... LOL
3. I don't remember tank barricades exactly like that but there were many kinds used.
Not nit picking it looks great, really great most impressive work.

SSgt1Shot Thanks for ur info, I only guessed that the US special forces were in Lebanon, but the Marines too?! (Saw ur profile) Can I trouble you to direct me to more info and pics on this?
I've actually only started building 1/35 Military modelling as a profession last year. So I'm not yet very knowlegeable on the matter.
unfortunately nobody seems to make a 1/35 Mercedes Benz, it would reallly be cool though. That's the darn thing about building dios, can't get the right scale for cars which would make all the difference. I do hope to get away with a 1/32 super gloria and chevy for my other planned dios.
Thanks
As for the road signs, you're right. I actually bought the VP Israeli road signs, couldn't find any Lebanese ones. And I hoped to get away with those few on the dio which should both languages.

Hey Nick, that dio came out great. Last we talked you were about to finnish it, so here it is ..finnished and it looks great. The M60.. wow, i love how the weathing was done. It looks almost real. I have to say that is one of the best pieces of armor modeling builds i've seen in some time. Great job, lets see some more.
