Hi everyone,

I know the M41 was used by ARVN forces during the war, but did American forces ever use it in combat?

Not as far as I am aware. (which may not be much since it's Monday morning )

Seriously, I don't think so. I don't remember seeing any in the Squadron 'in action' book or the Concord book on tanks in Vietnam.

US Army did not use M41 during the Vietnam war. Only ARVN used them during the conflict. The only tanks US Army used in Nam were M551 and M48. There was also M60 based M728, but it is actually a CEV not a tank.

No French use either. The light tanks used by the French in Indochina were M5A1s and M24s.

According to the Squadron/Signal book M41 Walker Bulldog in Action, "during 1953... a few M41's were sent to Korea for combat evaluation, but these saw only limited patrol action in the last days of the war." That would be the extent of U.S. use of the Bulldog in combat.
