Is it just me or is the server playing up again? The site is terribly slow and jerky at the moment...Jim

2 out of 4 attempts results in error pages. 2 are super slow.

Ola Jim
I can confirm it is exactly the same in Holland. But the site hasn`t got it all the time every now and then it suddenly starts to slow or not loading pages etc.

We either have 300 people trying to connect all of a sudden or we are having DoS attacks.
Is anyone doing silly things like DOWNLOADING the whole site??

Same here - I tried loading it five times and ended up closing the browser window because it was so slow.

Okay.....maybe this will be better. I have turning OFF persistant connections to the database.

Same here. It has been getting slower for a couple of days now. I couldn't get on the site today until now.

Somehow my posts ended up in wrong forums.... trying to delete them now, so the thread makes some coherent sense. :-) :-)

Seems to be working nice and fast for me now, although it was very slow earlier and I got a few errors. Still can't access the gallery though.

Jim,
Armorama is slow sometimes.....for instance sometimes if I've posted a reply, it takes some minutes to reload the page. Maybe because you made this such a good site that we have too many members now :-)

Hi there
I looked at this last night - Monday - and hadn't had a problem.
Tonight - Tuesday - it's REALLY bad. Slow connections, no connections... I seeem to have had the lot.
Maybe it's sunspots... or the transmissions back from Saturn!
All the best
Rowan

We are seeing a VERY unusual burst in traffic. I am still suspicious that the "site downloaders" are hitting us from parts unknown. For example Alexa shows our average number of pages visited today at 92 (PER USER!). It is normall in the 30-40 range.
Average big sites have numbers for this of 1.2.
But I think the config changes I made yesterday are helping at least. Otherwise I fear the site would be completely off-line.
I am going to do something about the site downloaders. They are going to automatically get their IP addresses banned.

I concur with this Jim. I have Broadban and it is very slow for me. I would hate to have dial up. It must be murder for those that use it. I know that you will find a solution for this.
