here is a tip on making hinges & locks like I have added to this tool box on the back of my Ford semi.
in the above diagram it shows how to make the two most common. As you can see they comsist of two pieces of plastic (or brass) strip and a piece of brass or copper wire. Add bolt heads and there you are hinges that when painted look the part.
