Hi all!
I'd like to hear some comments about this Tamiya kit, cos I'm planning to get one, but I'm not sure about its accuracy.
Any help is really welcomed!

Paulo,
Considering the Tamiya is currently the only version out there you don't have much of a choice. The kit is a 20+ year old re-release that Tamiya did nothing to improve. It still as toy like as it was when it first hit the shelves. I recommend doing your homework. The internet and Squadron/Signal are two sources that come to mind. I also recommend buying a photoetch set, I think Eduard makes one for the Duster. New individual link track to replace the rubber-bands and the Duster can be made into a decent model with some work.

Hang in there.

Patience Paulo. Skybow (and/or AFV Club?) is to release one as a companion to their new M41 Walker Bulldog. I would wait. I've collected over $80 worth of aftermarket to put into my $10 Tamiya Bulldog and I still wasn't done. Now I can have the AFV Club or Skybow one for $35-40, and it would be a better looking kit. Be aware that Tamiya just re-released the Duster in its original motorized mode. This kit runs for $35+.

BTW it is the M-42 Duster, the M-47 is the Patton tank.

I have to second SABOT's recommendation. The tamiya kit is rudimentary at best. The Skybow/AFV Club offering will be much better and should save you a lot of money as well as work. If rumor is true, it will have two turned aluminum barrels.

Hi Paulo,
I guess Rob gave you a very good advise, I saw the new M41 form AFV and it's a better model them Tamiya's. If they will keep the same quality for the M42. Wait this new release will be the best choice.
Speaking about M47, do you have referece pictures of US Army tankers oft the early 50's? Rob also gave me a good clue for this question I posted earlier.

Got the kit and eduard Pe for it but as Rob said Afv is coming out with one soon. I might have to put mine up for trade if it does.

Speaking of M41 this is a nice kit but fiddley parts will build into a great model I hope. Have the suspension done and wheels need to be sanded any volunteers for that. I lot of small parts in my kit have been broken, like end off of shocks both sides and no they don't exchange with the seperate kit. Fixed them all I think better packing is required in this kit
my 2 cents and saved a post

You know I was thinking about the Tamiya kit and what could be done with it. Build it as a range target. Stripped of all the good parts and just a hulk. Then you could use alot of imagineering to fill in the fiddley bits.

Paulo, you could always bust the bank and get CMK's M-19, the early cousin of the M42 like me. :-)
