I've been researching a bit for my next diorama (1/72 scale Battle for the Bulge).
I want to build a Tiger II from December 1944, vehicle 332, and think I have read somewhere that the vehicle is at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds today? Can anybody confirm that, and does anybody have any picture of this vehicle?
I want the build to be as precise as possible, so..

I just added a few pictures of 332 to my photo gallary at different times in it's history ...when captured ..The picture inside is supposed to be the original paint still on it and the picture marked 71 was taken in 1971 after it had been repainted (well done but not exactly as the original.. I can't link pictures anymore but if someone wants to do it for me please do if not I'll leave them in my gallery for a couple of days.

Just to clarify things a little. Tiger II #332 was at one time on display at Aberdeen. Presently it is located at the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox. When it was captured it had the three color camo scheme, soft edge, no ambush. There is some debate about the color of the numbers, but general consensus is that they were light blue outlined with yellow. It also had the smooth "bell" shaped mantlet, not the stepped one.

And don't forget, because no. 332 originally belonged to Abt. 509, it still had a previous marking of a small yellow circle, maybe 6 scale in. diameter, with a white cross inside. One on left glacis a little less than a foot from the mud guard and level with it. Each side of the hull just behind the forward-most tow cable hook. And left upper rear of the tailplate. According to the color plates in Osprey 'Kingtiger Heavy Tank', the roadwheels had a slight overspray of dark yellow only over the basic red-brown primer.

Actually, the markings are now thought to have been applied after 332's capture. There is a pic of the left side of the tank taken while it was still in Belgium and the marking is not there. In another pic of the same side taken soon after it's arrival at Aberdeen the symbol is very plainly visible. There is no record of the 509 using that symbol or anything similar. It is now thought by some very reputable people that the Allies put those markings there. Several theories have been put forth for their use, one of the more popular being they were some sort of shipping symbol used when 332 was sent to the states.

Thank you guys!
As always you guys are the best! "Bell" shaped.. looks like I have to operate on my little baby...
Great pictures!! Found out about the history with the vehicle going for 509th, but used in 501st instead, the small yellow/white symbol and the 3 colour scheme, with dark green and dark yellow over the red primer.
I'm using the Eduard PE set for the Revell Tiger II on the Dragon one I build, and it looks like it fits!
Better hold back on the weathering on this baby, it must have come right off the train and right into the battle at the Ardennes. Mud and dust, but not too much rust, "runs", scratches, etc.
Thanks guys!
