Looking very good Cliff. It really looks like the photo. You are hitting this one on the head. Bravo! How long is this trailer? Are you going to add any more cargo to the trailer. The reason I ask is the inside of the side panels are not scored to look like wood panels as the outside is. I figure you are filling the bed so you don't have to worry about it. Right. My last nit pick really. It is really looking great old Master Roo.

Wow !! Trailer tops the tractor, IMHO !! Very detailed & very clean build.

Now the big question -- did Animal's elves somehow get down under to help you out ??? Awful lot of good work getting done in a short time !!!

Dave the trailer will have about 74 of those drums you see (44imp gal or 55 US gal) as a load piled piramid stye. The trailer is 7.5 inches by 3 inches.

Great work Cliff. No nit-picks, and I love the 'battered & used' look on the drums! thay really look as if they've been used and refilled a few times. All adds to the overall appearance of the model.

This Project is really coming along nicely Cliff. It is always good to have a model go smoothly.
Can't wait to see it finished.

'Roo:

BTW, was it standard practice to load the drums that way ? Seems inefficient storage-wise & difficult, not to mention they'd "slosh around" if there were any space between drums & sideboards. We used to band 'em to wood pallets that were easier for forklifts to load.

Just curious.

John the drums were all empty and bought back as backloads for refurbishing and refilling. They were all hand loaded with never a pallet to be seen and these guys would probably ask......"what's a fork hoist" :-)

If back loads were not availiable the trailers were backed into banks and single unit trucks and detachable trailers were loaded so that their fuel could be saved on the return journey. The trailers were on a semi permanent fitting to the trucks. Unlike a fifth wheel it was a major task to 'unhook' the trailers from these trucks as they were bolted on.

Hope this helps
Cheers

Thanks Cliff ...
I completely missed that fifth wheel masquerading as a block of wood (or is it vice versa) & didn't realize the semi-permanent relationship between tractor & trailer.

John, always learning ...
