Ryan - I can't add anymore than the guys above me - other than I really like your Abrams! I hope it is looked upon favorably in the upcoming contest too.

You really capture an essence and makes the model look alive - very nice work.

Like everyone before, I am blown away, yet when it comes to Abram models, I wouldn't expect anything less from you. Very realistic.

Good luck with the baby. While I still need a girl before I can even begin to consider having a kid, I do know sanity is a hard thing to keep. Just remember that building models is a good way to keep your sanity.

@:) We should raise a fund to help modeller turned parents sustain modelling while not breaking their budget? Not sure where.

Not impossible to do. I have six children aged 19 years to 6 months. The 19 year old was very expensive. His car insurance in Massachusetts (one of the top 5 areas in the country) was $1776 every six months (yes, almost $300 a month) and in Kentucky it dropped to $1501 every six months. Remember, these prices are for just him and in a 5 year old 2000 Ford Focus sedan. Needless to say, now that I've just shipped him off to boot camp a week ago, I cancelled his insurance and am back to paying about $800 a year for my wife and me.

Now does anyone want to discuss the price I pay for my 16 yr old stepdaughter's braces or how much baby stuff I had to re-buy when wer had the 6th kid? We had dumped all the previous baby stuff. There's a 7+ year gap between my two youngest and we didn't have any baby gear left.

I still have money to buy enough models to build and I'm far from rich.

Please feel free to point them out, thats why I post the pictures here. Others see things that I may miss.

Well...most the "faults" I noticed were just shortcomings of the DML kit.

- The pair of tabs (lifting eyes?) on the main gun mantlet should have holes drilled out.

- The guards for the tow cables mounts are not of the correct profile, should be bullet shaped.

On the construction/detailing side:

- I did notice that the notch of the fire extingiusher may have been set too high - the bottom of the rectuangluar hole is visible.

But geez man, those are just minor stuff... IMHO you did an excellent job; I've been looking at it several times today and it never fails to impress me. The overall appearace of your M1A1 truly captures the look of the beast.

I don't think I can do better. Really.

Thanks. I really appreciate the feedback. I hope I didnt come across as upset you pointed those things out. Far from it. Its the only way to get better. I didnt know about the lifting eyes on the mantle, not to late to fix those. Same with the tow cable guards, you do mean the solid feature in front of the 'T" shaped holder? The fire extinquisher is something I never liked. My scratchbuilding skills have improved since I did it. This thing was painted and ready to go in July, but I over weathered it, and ended up repainting it in December. Never thought about fixing that when I removed the dust coating and repainted it. Repainting is fun when you already put the decals on!

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Yup. That's the one.

Please, do not mean to sound offensive, if I did.

Good Morning Melon. Great work on your M1A1s. Both models look outstanding. I am sporting those Charlie "V"s on my 1/1 scale Jeep and Truck, that is my gang affiliation. I hope your work does well at the contest you mentioned.
