Some books that might help you.

http://www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/russia/t28-t35.htm

They'll also put you off building the T-28 Bridgelayer version as ICM managed to leave off the bridge-launching mechanism.

Also have a look at this site

Hey there,

RV1963 (if that happens to be a year, it was a GREAT one!! :-) )

I'm building ICMs IT-28 for the "Seeing Red" campaign and decided to do it OOTB (don't have the funds for the indy tracks [yet!] ).

I went searching the stores after finding very little online for references for the IT-28 (nothing out there really) but ran across a couple of books that will probably help with the T-28 and in my case, the ITs lower hull:

Armor at War Series - Soviet Tanks in Combat 1941-1945, Concord Publications ISBN 962-361-615-5. This one has several nice pics of the T-28 (and 34, 34-85). Several of which you'll find on the net, but these are pretty crisp.

Armor at War Series - Armor Battles on the Eastern Front, Concord Publications ISBN 962-361-627-9. Several nice shots of the T-35 (along with a lot of German armor).

I also have ICMs T-35. I did manage to buy the Fruil indys, Jordio's barrels, and Eduards PE set. I am so looking forward to this one.

Both ICM kits are very heavy on the separting agents. I've washed my IT-28 about three times and had to use a toothbrush. Stuff's nasty . Aside for some very slight warpage and minor gaps, the IT is coming along pretty good. I only have the lower hull started so far, so....can't say too much more. Oh, flash...easy enough.

I'm happy with them both and I think that's because I didn't expect Dragon or Tamiya quality. The 35 will be a wonderful beast!

Side note to Drader: Any idea what the "bridge launching mechanism" looks like (refs??) and if it would be a pain to scratch? Thanks.

RV, hope this helped some. (love that 35!! )

I think yes is the answer, specially as there are very few pictures of the IT-28. The bridge is driven forward by two industrial-size chain drives, which aren't very visible in the photographs. I have seen mention of a Russian magazine which may have more details, but can't remember which one offhand.

Sorry, should have said the IT-28 photographs were in the book in my first link.

And Mike, if you want some more T-28 shots have a look at these ones preserved in Finland, hidden among a load of T-34s

http://www.andreaslarka.net/mediumheavytanks.html

Be aware though that some of the fittings may have been added by the Finns, and may not have been on Soviet vehicles.....

rv1963,

The best reference by far for the T-28 (of the ones I own anyway) is Wydawnictwo Militaria 160 - T-28. It illustrates the relevant changes made to the production T-28 tanks, including rear stowage changes.

It can be had for not too much money from your usual outlets.
