I'm having a thought about a dio, would the guideline have been used along the trail? maybe to counter-act bombers or ? Where should I look for reference on this?
Also where would I find images of PBRs ( haven't googled yet, just wondering)
Cheers

Hi Joker,
The North Vietnam Army used the SAM 2 Guidelines from the Sino-Vietnam border to the DMZ at 17th parallel in the Nam war in order to counter-acting bombers, I am not sure that NVA deployed these SAM 2 with trailers to the South Vietnam on the Ho Chi Minh Trail cause of the primary construction of this road belong the Truong Son mountain chain.

A picture of a SAM 2 on launcher in North Vietnam:

There is a Mobile Riverine Force website, I hope that you will get more information about the Pibber:

For PBRs try watching 'Apocalypse Now' which spends a lot of time on one And while Googling try 'Brown Water Navy'

I'm dubious about SA-2s on the Ho Chi Minh trail too, as they really need to be part of an integrated air-defence network to function. Which means they are more likely to be found around high-value targets in North Vietnam. I'm prepared to be proved wrong though.

Shows some wreckage from downed B-52s still on show in Hanoi, together with a preserved SA2. The more eagle-eyed will spot the B-52 debris in the lower picture has been supplemented with part of an M113.
