I am happy to announce that we will have a table at the California Show 2005 put on by SCAHMS (Southern California Area Historical Miniature Society). This show is a premier North American figure show that also features talent by armor and diorama builders as well. I think any category of model is welcome in fact.
The table will offer space for our members to display their works as well as provide information about the site and our community. Obviously we could really use your support if you live close enough to attend. Please check out the show report I did for last years show. If that isn't enough of a teaser to get you interested I don't know what will.
I will also be taking lots of pictures again so you are welcome to bring your models in and get them photographed for display on the site as well.
More info to come!

Thanks,
Jim

Jim- Do you know the Show hours yet ? Friday is no problem, it's SWMBO's BINGO nite, just wondering about Saturday.
Posted: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 08:16 AM UTC
Chuck,
I was told that the schedule of events should be posted shortly. If I remember from last year the only events on Friday were the seminars and they started after 5pm. So if they go by a similar event structure then the hours on Saturday will be from 9-5 or 10-5 I think.
Cheers,
Jim

Couple of questions. First, will Armorama One be available to meet with our transportation needs? And two, will we get the same expense account amount that we got last time?
I'm still waiting on Armorama's 2004 W-2 form to finish my taxes.

Robin - Just drive over to the Gold Repository and throw some money through the window, they'll take that as payment. :-)

Rob,
Yes (if you still remember the secret handshake), Yes (unless you misplaced your Armorama AMEX Gold card), and lastly...not sure on that. Last I heard from my accountant in the Caymans, he said they had all gone out.
:p

Jonathan,
I think there is a nice annual show in Nova Scotia. Just a long boat ride away for you eh?
I will try to be the eyes and ears for all of our members that don't get a chance to attend shows like these.
But for those who do have the means to attend them I really recommend you do. When you attend and even enter in local contests it really helps keep our hobby alive and growing. I can honestly say that I have enjoied all the shows I have had the ability to attend. And this from a guy who is not even actively building these days.
Spades - I remember! Hope to run into you again.
Cheers,
Jim

Jim, I too plan on attending. Most likely only on Saturday. Some questions.
Any more info on the Armorama table? How much stuff do we have room to bring if we would like to display items there?

Gino,
I reserved a 4x 8 table so there is enough room for 20 or so models I would guess. I don't have a lot else to display and will probably only have some flyers and perhaps a laptop with images from the site. If there were a lot of additional display entries I could hopefully get additional tables or space. There was actually an abundance of room last year and the SCAHMS folks have really nice chest-level display tables that would make the AMPS and IPMS folks drool.
Cheers,
Jim

DAMN!!!!!........I just love it when Rob does 'stand-up'!!.....I swear the guy should do 'American Idol'. :-)
(you almost had me in tears pard' )
Since "Armorama One" was refitted here in Colorado for all of our modeling pleasures, I will assist our good leader Jim with checking on the availability of the beautiful 'purpose-built' 747 for you Rob.......I'll get back to you, O.K.?
But!....on another, complimentary tangent. Our good member Francios from the Great White North has set a match to another (potentially) nifty idea by his comments......
Rather than go into a tirade about the idea itself, why don't I assist in planting the 'seed' of Armorama's potential global presence by saying this;
Since my area (Colorado) is recently been found somewhat 'wanting' in the area of model show promotion. What if I look at establishing a local 'Armorama' Modeling Show to both increase the awareness of modeling in general, but to also more dramatically increase the awareness of Armorama in particular???
With any luck, I can hopefully recruit other local Armorama members (I'm thinking of HalfYank right off the bat) to help in the forming/running/awarding duties of running a modeling show.
Now......how about that as an Armorama promotion idea???
Jim......I'll be contacting you seperately about this.....
Tread.
EDIT: Isn't Red4 in Colorado too?.......I'll have to bang on his door too.........

SCAHMS is an Open Competition. Registration is done either the Friday night before (after 5pm) or the Saturday of the show. There is no need (or ability) for advance registration.

Jim,
Frank has a good point there----lots of shows around. Could be worth a trawl for regional /country shows that would accept "guest" tables, especially if they had members of Associations/Societies attending ---IPMS ,MAFVA ,etc.
Food for thought, show the flag,
