I have seen a lot of dio's of the russian front with flowers in them, but of course they where in 1/35th scale. Can anyone please tell me what kind of flowers did they, [ Russian front ] have in the fields besides the wheat fields we see?
In fact, I just saw a photo of some Grenadiers following behind a Tiger during what I believe was Kursk. They where knee deep in flowers! Also can anyone please tell me if there is a company out there who makes flowers for the 1/72nd dio's? If there is not how does someone make them?
Thank you.

For 1/72 scale, I'd check out the model railroading section of the LHS, for flowers, they come in all sizes in real life, and don't think the scale difference would affect to look of your diorama, it's not like mixing people, or vehicles, or equiptment.
Big trees, small trees... big flowers, small flowers..... all in real life.

You can buy real looking trees from woodland scenics they come in plastic containers so you can store them away.
What you can do is break sections of the tree and then paint the leaves the colour you want and presto instant flowers.
Also the good thing is you can break the at different heights to give the flowers more depth.

If you have a Michael's craft store near by go there and check out their stock of dried ferns and other wreath making materiel. In there you should find all kinds of flowery type buding stuff that would make great bushes, flowers, trees etc. Just snip off the very tips and glue them in place.
It may seem big but like Grumpy said flowers, trees and the like come in all types of shapes and sizes.
