Good Evening All,

Seems like I've caught the British Armor bug -- bought a Universal carrier on a whim and had a blast building it. Now I've got my eye on the Tamiya Cromwell. Has anyone built it and are there any issues with the kit I should watch for? I can vaguely remember the reviews of it when it first came out and they sounded positive. Thanks guys for any info you can give me.

I am using that kit for a donor on my Cromwell ARV The fit is excellent I reccomend getting the Tamiya PE screen for the rear hull The tracks from the kit look like they will lay down good when glued to give a good sag on tops of road wheels

You can build this kit with confidence ...one of Tamyia's better kits out there ..Right out of the box it looks great and other that wiring up the lights not much more is really needed.

For some reason, as ugly as it looks, I am seriously intrigued about building one.

Just to echo what has already been said, the Tamiya Cromwell is a great kit. I built one a little over a year ago and really enjoyed it. The fit and detail are excellent.

Cheers,
Mike

I have that kit too and it's a nice kit....I just don't like the tracks. Not that they're ugly or undetailled, they easily break and they did break here.

I am currently repainting and partly rebuilding my cromwell and I've bought the Modelkasten tracks for my cromwell.....review of these tracks can be found here:

I think the tracks are well worth their money....but you can use the kit tracks if you're carefull!

Martinn- either you were unlucky or I was lucky! Mine didn't break and they took some hammering before I finally glued 'em in place!
I have never had a problem with Tamiya tracks breaking- they always seem too rubbery for that.

Thanks, guys! I bought the Cromwell and the Centaur... You're right, they are pretty Fugly, but they're gonna be a welcome addition to my collection. I knew I could count on my bros here for good gouge!

I always thought the Cromwell to be a good looking tank like most Brit armour. (Except the Churchill)

Each to their own.

I have heard nothing but good things about this kit.

As a side note: Try the tamiya Churchill, great armor model too!, comes with a little farmer with wine bottles as well

I recommend it in fact there are a couple of pictures of mine in my gallery. I did replace the kit tracks and barrel but I really didn't need to. I want to build a Centaur now and a Centaur AA (Accurate Armour resin conversion).
