Kurt, you wouldn't happen to be interested in working with me on a project like that would you? Sort of an illustrated parts book for modelers?? Show the variations and list the PN so people have a proper idea of what they are talking about???

I'd buy one. Kurt's info is always precise.

Actually, that's what we need from Ampersand, a new edition of their Sherman book with the content expanded to detail the turrets and variants in addition to the hull and running gear info they published first time. A bit of a half-*rsed job. I would also like to see any 2nd edition list the actual part numbers as opposed to the "Type 2b" nominclature that _they_ invented and is now starting to percolate through the hobby.

I think they announced that they are reissuing it.

Oyf! Starting from scratch would be a monumental task and has a great potential to become "The Neverending Story". . . Working with "&" to correct/expand what they already have would be feasible, perhaps ? ? ?

I've already done this, more or less, for M5 light tanks. I was hoping to have it ready to sell at AMPS but we're putting our house on the market SUNDAY!!! and getting it ready has eaten up most of my free time since last October. Tell ya what, email me and we can arrange some quiet time down at HdG and talk about it.

Bob-
So basically you are saying that I can use the more rounded one piece as found in say the Dragon M4A1, and have a model of standard M4 but with only the different housing? Whew! Seems I created a monster with this question, and people have digressed from there... Ha! I love it...
On this topic though, there was a link to site on M4 medium Shermans which contained photos of 6th Armoured 68th, one of these being the tank I wish to build... NOW. Would you or anyone know if this is an M4 or M4A3?

It's almost certainly an M4. I assume you are talking about this page: http://mmcalc.tripod.com/Shermans/6th_AD_Tanks.html

Units would mix M4s and M4A1s because they shared many common parts -- the same engine, for one. But it was unusual to find the M4A3 mixed in with M4s or M4A1s -- it added to much to the logistics chain.

Re-issuing is one thing. Re-editing it would be much better. Unlikely, but much better.

That would work.

Paul, if you read Sticky's posts last week, he has an inside track that it is being revised and reissued: MMiR Sherman Book.
