I take it that bottom one should be 37mm 1/72 scale?

I'm really interested in the 1/72 scale 20mm flak guns. I have the quad half-track and would buy four if they were not too much. I checked out your site but did not see them listed.

As they are listed in the Sub and S100 page you might miss them
The 1/72nd scale 20mm flak are just $3.50 each; the 37mm flak are $5 in 1/72nd
The big 37mm 1/35th is $6.50 and the 20mm is $4.75

Nice, do you know if the Flak 88mm gun is suitable for the ground mounted Hasegawa Flak 18 or Flak 36?

www.modelbrass.com mostly caters to the ship market. I'm pretty sure the 1/72 barrels are designed for builders of 1/72 German subs. The ship mounted 88mm cannon was not the same as Wehrmacht land-based ones.
That being said, they look nice though!

I understand that these were designed with the Revell U-boat in mind. The 20mm barrels look doable for several of the flakvierling kits available.
I wasn't sure about the 88mm being usable on the Hasegawa flak which is why I asked (my knowledge on U-boats is limited to Das Boot and U-571).
Armo and Aber both make 20mm sets for the Flak gun (four barrels in their sets). I was just wondering if it would be more viable to get these from a North American manufacturer who actually visits our site.

I'm always open to suggestions to a new barrel; that being said remember I need a min order of 4 barrels because I don't charge the time for drawing and creating the CAM program; i just hope I sell more at some point to offset the lost time
I doubt you'll find you can email one of the major barrel producers and get that kind of service

Those of us who build model ships can attest to the high quality of Steve's work. If you want to be blown away, look at the smaller guns he did for the Bismarck in 350 scale. They aren't much bigger than a toothpick yet up close (and in his photo's) you can see the intracate detail. I have been encouraging Steve to start doing some 35th scale Armor stuff

Just out of curiosity, how accurate are these items? Do you have some blue-prints or the like or how do you know the size of the barrels?
I've been looking at the other manufacturers of barrels for 1/72nd scale (armor barrels), and am missing a few KwK 88mm types.
regards,
Steen

Where ever possible I use official drawings; not model builders drawings as they are often useless
For the German guns; most are from drawings sent to me by dedicated modeles who simply want the best; I have drawings from the 38cm down to the 10.5cm all fully scaled
The best sources are usually AOTS books; of which i have a few; but they are not cheap
Some guns I work from many photographs; i measure the photo and then draw the gun in CAD as a 3D model; then render it as a solid; i then rotate the solid model to the same aspect as the photo; then I measure it again; and adjust untill it's correct; then i make a barrel; i then hold it close to my eye and again move it to match the barrel photo (this chk's the Perspective )
Only if all this pssses will I one make from photos; i have later got drawings and rechked what i did from photos; I've never missed by more than 1/2" on length; and I get much closer than that on diameters
As to the accuracy of the machine; i program to 4 decimal places in metric (i.e. 5.0075mm) the machine is computer controled to the same accuracy

Isn't this thread in the wrong section, large scale relates to 1/25th and larger I thought, not 1/35 or 1/72

Oh,now I understand,I dont have a problem with it,just got excited when I saw the thread, thinking it would relate to large scale armor,I guess for ships, you are talking large scale.

My Yamato is big scale 1/48th or 18ft long; will displace 1200lbs
Thats big scale
If these guns are needed bigger; it's not a problem

I don't know if there is any interest
But I'm making 5 sets (I need one for my upcoming scratch built UBoat anyway)
There will be 4 37mm avail
and 16 20mm
